I once listened to a police negotiator speak and he said to always ask, why is this so big for you? Meaning, how on earth did we end up here? I have always carried that with me, even 20 years later. Why is this so big for you?

I also read somewhere along the line, (seems it was based on science, I can find the link), if you can name the emotion attached, it can help lessen it somehow). I have no idea but I think it is worth some thought.

It is often said when you feel a strong urge of something, it is much better to word everything on paper to avoid impulsive actions.

My middle name is vanity because everything what I have done was in vain. And I always felt that I am here not in vain, but it is too late.

It is kind of dissonance. You feel that you live not in vain, but everything shows you the opposite.

Somehow I thought the good times would last forever. We all run out of youth, vigor, money, prestige, health. I guess that is how we ended up here... but I still think there is an emotion tied to it... and yours was a good answer.

I think there are lots of different emotions. And they cannot just be listed, it would be easier to explain using vectors. Some make us go forwards, some drag us backwards and the sum of all these vectors is a short vector with unpredictable direction.

I have no idea what a "vector" is... ha. All I know is that what was so big for me...

For sure. Do you think we just stopped coping due to depression/anxiety/etc or has life been brutally unfair? There are so many names for it these days... Complicated grief.
I think his point was when you are negotiating someone off of a bridge and, at that moment, he/she asks, "Why is this so big for you?", what would your answer be? What would push you over the edge literally and figuratively?

My own vanity and ego has ruined my life....so much so that living has gotten irritating because i cant face my own stupidity and naivety
