Exit International believes every adult of sound mind has the right to implement plans for the end of their life so that their death is reliable, peaceful and at a time of their choosing.

Exit believes that control over one's life & death to be a fundamental human right.

Outside court Nitschke described the charges as "the first time our organisation has been targeted by the authorities".

"Exit is going to grow through this, it's not going to be the end of Exit. Exit is going to flourish because people will see it's one way of ensuring that you get choice."

An Exit group coordinator was delivered a verdict of not guilty of assisting suicide (2016). Her lawyer argued during the trial that the Exit coordinator did not intend that the woman should commit suicide, but assisted her to obtain the pentobarbital.

"She intended that Mrs xyz should have control over her end of life issue – having that [drug] could have had a profound palliative effect to reduce suffering."

The Exit group coordinator has been found not guilty on a representative charge of importing the Class C drug pentobarbitone.

However she was found guilty on two other charges of importing the drug.

Exit supports individuals' right to procure drugs & equipment for end-of-life purposes.

Exit does not provide individuals with illegal drugs or equipment (Exit only provides information).
