Discussion Why does suicide have to be so HARD?

A lot of people call suicide the easy way out, but that is not true at all.. it is really hard to be successful at killing yourself.. every method has a failure rate, most methods have a huge failure rate.. I wish I could just press a button to end my life, I would do it right now

Survival instinct. We're going to have that after thousands of years of evolution. Our bodies also fight hard to survive. The most reliable methods are often unpleasant or violent, and we have emotions, too. So many times, we don't want to suffer a lot to die and we don't want to traumatize others by having our brain matter everywhere.

I don't know man, I feel like if I had the right tools, it'd be easier for me. But then again, I agree with @Sixfeetunder, that it's got to do with the survival instinct. I mean, I can think it can be easy all I want, but as soon as the rubber meets the road, all of these excuses and reasons to hold back will start flooding right back in.

Suicide is so difficult because society and laws make it so difficult for us. Suicide could be as easy as pressing a button, the rest would be done by a device alone. But that is not wanted.

I don't know but being told about seizuring and being all tubed up from a nearby fatal overdose scares you. You really have to be all on and plan it we'll or you'll just end up worse than before.

Probably not really a concern if you OD while alone. It's after they bring you back with naloxene that you may experience problems, although most junkies seem to come back unscathed. OD is something a lot of us will probably have to go through in the end so hopefully if we end up OD'ing it'll go swimmingly.
