Why do people here like to change their username and profile picture?

On any site or just this one? I don't know why anyone would change their username on here, maybe to hide themselves? So many people on here have private profiles. Maybe they change their usernames to harass people, idk.

Here. I have already changed the title to make it more enlightening.

All accounts here are private. It's just that then they become unrecognizable to the community.

Yes it's not a problem. I was just wondering about the motives, not when people change their picture or their name, but when they change both. They became unrecognizable. Maybe that's what people want when they do it.

For me, I just never loved the name I chose when I first joined. Immediately I noticed dozens of other 'soul' usernames. It was picked during a certain mood I was in, that changes often lately. Couldn't think of a better one and didn't want to confuse people too much, so I changed it to Jerk, because occasionally I can be a bit of a jerk... and it doesn't sit right with a username like 'GentleSoul'

The monkey has always been a theme since the beginning for my profile tho, I just change it up sometimes.

I really liked how you changed your name. You somehow stayed within a theme, so that we can recognize you, while still getting rid of what did not work for you anymore. Plus, you changed you profile picture a while before the name, also makes recognizing you easier. I enjoy reading your thoughts, so it is nice to be continuously able to attribute them to you.

I'm going to end up changing my username because I hate it so much. I was coding when I signed up on here and thought I would never speak, so that's why I picked something I didn't care about.

I think there are alot of ppl with bpd on here like me. And wanting to change who I am is something that happens alot. Also alot other people abusing substances or with mood disorders like bipolar. So it makes totally sense that there are certain posts and comments we are not proud of and "starting over" seems like a good idea.

I'm glad to hear that you are trying to recover. I think it's never too late and the world turns around. It's a more than acceptable justification for changing the name. I hope things go well for you and I wish you the best :)

Initially, I changed my name for privacy reasons before I left the site (though in retrospect, there was little point in that). I kept the new name because it has a personal meaning for me and I see it as a tribute to a very dear friend, who was jokingly (and affectionately) accused by mutual friends of writing "love letters" to me when he was still alive. I wrote my former username as my tagline though to minimise confusion, at least until others are used to it.

If you are referring to why I am changing my name in general, it's because I thought of this username after the account was created.

If you're asking why this one specifically, I'm based for not letting general society manipulate me with platitudes and I plan to CTB so I will be "peaceful pilled".

Lol I used to be notorious for changing any sort of icon or avy weekly on social media sites. Now I'm too lazy af to even do that. 2 changes at most when it comes to usernames since I kinda want my own brand when it comes to them.
