So the past few times after I've had a really great day and I go to sleep feeling (unusually) happy, I have awful dreams. They are very vivid where I dream of my worst fears and traumatic experiences in new, creative contexts.

I'll go to bed thanking God that I had a good day, only to be jarred awake (with far less sleep than I'd hoped) with these nightmares. It really shakes me up, and now I'm worried this is going to happen every time I have a really good day now that I've had a pattern of it happening.

Does this happen to anyone else? And if so, do you have any advice or tips?

This happens to me too. And although I do not know any actual scientific reason, I've had this convo with some friends and we think it's because once we are in a good mood-our brains have more room to process traumatic things we have been through. I believe theoretically dreaming is just like digesting your day/the past few weeks/even traumatic thing from the past and desires etc etc. so because you're in a better head space your brain tries to digest some of that trauma. As for why it's so extra and wild-I think unfortunately that's just how brains work. It's sorta like maybe how you feel deep down? Or maybe the brain is just being weird it's hard to tell. But this is what I believe.

That makes a lot of sense but is also so annoying. I'm the type where I'd rather just get al the unpleasant emotions over with all at once instead of processing them but by bit. But I recognize that there's gotta be a good reason our brains function the way they do

That's a very good way of thinking about it with what you said at the end. It's so annoying but our bodies/minds are trying to look out for us so thinking that sometimes helps me. But sometimes it can become a problem, I hope you find a solution like medicine or something.

Thank you for the well wishes. I was recommended passionflower on here actually by someone on here so I am going to try that
