Why are there currently so many guests online?

Often there are more than 1000 guests. Have I missed a new media story or another viral video? Who are these people? Which threads interest them?
I noticed that my thread in suicide subforum yesterday had overproportional more guests than members. My personal theory this has to do with my recovery threads. I write threads to support people in recovery and already did that in the past. Maybe I am a unicorn because I describe the depths of suicidality and positive stances on life alternating.

Moreover I noticed (I hope I am allowed to name her explicitly) that in the threads of CTBDream you often find also many guests.

I am not sure what the motivation of these people are. I could imagine they are journalists preparing new stories, watchers of viral videos, maybe law enforcement, people who are against the right to die, people who are just curious about people in despair, people who gawk at threads because their life is so fucking boring.

One could hypothesize the more spectacular or extreme a situation of a particular member is the more people get attracted. Though this is only an assumption. I don't know statistics. Further this might apply to members too.

I could go on with speculations. Maybe the hot weather increases the suicidality of many people. I think the suicide rates are in summers the highest. Though I don't think that is the full explanation. Maybe you have better theories than me.

Bunch of sad bastards the lot of them.

Also, I'd say 5-10 years ago there were loads of these kinds of forums,subreddits,groups around so I suppose this place has cornered this particular market niche.

Guest are here for answers! Some have lost loved ones to suicide and want an understanding, can't move on. Some have friends or family who feel like us and want to understand and find it difficult as to why someone would want to end their own lives. Or simply like I was when I came..I was looking for others who felt like me when I felt I was different, something was wrong with me, nobody understood me, I was tired of being labeled, I didn't understand how me wanting to end life made people call me crazy so I searched the web and I found this site! I found a safe place where I can truly be myself and on those very bad days I can log on and safely say how I feel and know..someone will immediately respond and say, it's ok, I'm here for you! I love you guys and the ones that are here lurking for whatever reason, I hope you find the answers and understanding you are in search for. Please listen to us and that who you can't understand, I want you to know that person may not speak it in a message you may not understand but we suffer so much and maybe you aren't receiving the message we desperately try to tell you guys !
