This can be a comfort character or a character who just resonates with you entirely!
For me, It's Yaroslav Evangef from the obscure (now-defunct) project/former ARG The Days Union! I share his very same ambitions of escapism, and him and I do look quite similar in appearance as well! He has always resonated with me due to the fact him and I share similar ambitions and appearances.

Do tell me more about them! They seem interesting! :)
If you haven't seen the film you must have seen the coin toss scene, it's one of the most tense scenes in movies

Both really awesome characters! Especially Gyro! I've been a Jojo fan for a couple years now! :)

I don't think I have seen the coin toss scene, but I will most definitely check it out!

He is a ruthless serial killer willing to do anything to get what he wants, who believes in a concept of destiny and possibility because he often decides to kill or not the victims with the flip of a coin.

Rust Cohle (True Detective S1) for sure.

His character touched on things I'd already felt, but on a much deeper level.

I love it when characters have feelings/experiences that can be related to by the consumer of the media! Especially when it feels personal! Same reason I'm so attached to Yaroslav :)

Probably Eward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist and Kousei Arima from Your Lie In April. Ed mostly because he is my comfort character, I love his development and I always wanted to be as strong and reliable as him one day. And Kousei because I feel his pain towards the piano, when I used to play it I always felt like it wasn't enough, like it was something more painful rather than fun, but since it was my only escape from reality I couldn't get away from it despite how much it made me feel bad.

Naruto bc he didn't quite fit in but eventually became super strong
Sasuke as well bc my personality matches him a lot
Deku, bc he got picked on a lot but finally became OP and always tries his best

I was gonna say Kirito / Kazuto from Sword Art Online bc I like his confidence in battle and his high morals regarding his friends, but he's also such a weak guy whenever Asuna confronts him and I think that's odd, plus the whole thing with the "sister" having a crush on him throughout the entire second half of the show was just so fucking uncomfortable to watch. The concept of the story was very interesting since I love VR stuff but the weird sister part of it makes me concerned about whoever wrote the story, they must have a lot of issues. Other than that it's a nice show and Kirito himself is overall pretty cool.

Idk I don't watch a lot of anime compared to other people I've talked to, but I'll say I feel most like Gaara or Sasuke. Depending on who I'm hanging out with I'll be more goofy like Naruto tho. These days I'm a bit of a loner though, so I'll say Sasuke.

Also Senku from Dr.Stone is cool as hell, I love science and technology so that matches up. Also an atheist just like him, it's cool to see animes actually making people interested in learning, that's a very good thing.

Zero (Rockman X/Zero series), a character I could relate to even as a kid. He has similar values to mine, he values his own life much less than those of who he believes in (understandably). He's lost a lot and struggled to overcome the reality of his past. Over the course of the X series you see his attitude slowly going from more laid back to more hardened due to all the loss and hardships of war. He doesn't have any of his own reason to live or keep fighting, but he keeps going because he believes in his partner and is outright suicidal if it means saving those very few he actually believes in.
By the time X8 happens he doesn't even react in the slightest to someone clearly having a romantic interest in him and I wholly feel that.

It's hard to relate to characters past the beginning of the story, because there is generally development and something worth telling. House was a good one because if you take away the genius aspect of it the way nothing really improves for him is relatable. It's all about learning to live with the piece of shit he is, and in the end he has nobody but his one buddy.

But for the most part, characters do things, and in some way have a story worth telling. That's not me, for sure. Here in my office getting behind on work and typing on a pro-suicide forum . . . Most people are NPCs. They aren't even support characters. That's me. I may be a one-off comedic effect type, but otherwise I just plug a role.

Welcome to the NHK is brought up a lot, and maybe that protagonist is getting closer, but they still live through the suicide pact island and make their indy game... it's something. I'm not a neet. I have a job and a SO. But so do a billion other people. You wouldn't want to watch my story.

Characters like Meursault from The Stranger, Joker, main character of Drive (2011) and the main characters of Burning (2018) are relatable to me. Drive and Burning are my favorite movies and I highly recommend them.

I love Uramichi from life lessons with Uramichi oniisan. Each time I rewatch this series I genuinely feel seen. I like to see in the media somebody depressed who is trying to do their best and not to give up, despite not knowing why they are still alive.

And also Wolfgang Grimmer from Monster. He is such great representation of a really apathetic person. I don't see this much. Usually authors are trying to play not caring as something cool. And here apathy is shown as something concerning and really tragic. Some scenes with him just brake my heart.

Heh, I like that people can simultaneously share and not share opinion at all.

Funny enough I like the thought of being an NPC. It's so calming. It takes of pressure from you. Because NPCs don't need to do anything heroic or overwhelming. They don't need to be special. It's enough for them to just be there. Plus NPC don't need to struggle to be normal. They are default. Their setting are to be normal.

Jane Eyre. I've always loved what a strong person she was. I probably relate too that she was so passionate yet principled- even when it wasn't really in her favour. Also, that she had a rough childhood but managed to make her way in life. I've always hoped I would have a happy ending like that but I doubt it now.

Hu Tao because of her theme of living life to the fullest while respecting death, her silliness and morbid sense of humor, as well as her ease of dealing with the macabre that others find unsettling.

"Only once you know and respect death can you truly understand the value of life."
