I was in this predicament before the beginning of this year and even last year (2018). I could recall that I did not want to suffer homelessness and destitution, living life on the streets with little or no money, having to panhandle, brave the elements, defend myself against muggers/assholes who prey on the homelessness, avoiding law enforcement in anti-loitering areas and what not...
So I will answer this as in past tense, had I been homeless and unable to survive, then yeah it's likely I would have CTB to avoid living on the streets. Unemployment CAN lead to homelessness (unless you are NEET and having outside support). This is also partially why I bought my firearm back in December 2018, to prepare for the potential of unemployment and the subsequent homelessness that follows. I was also anxious in the first few weeks of my job in January 2019, (started beginning of January 2019), as I wasn't sure if I would hold on to the job or lose it quickly. Luckily I held on to it and managed to carve out a living and survive. In the future if I am unemployed and without savings or outside support, then yes CTB is an option other than suffering homelessness and dying. Perhaps if I had the means and ability to immigrate to another country outside the US (in Europe preferably), then maybe homelessness might not be as bad, but I don't know since I never lived outside the US.
