I need to talk to someone else who has tinnitus. I feel like I'm going crazy. I can't ctb right now because I can't risk going to the hospital. I want to die so badly. It really feels like I'm in a nightmare.

Me! I suffer from it about 4years now, when i realised that maybe it will be chronic i get mad.

I just get used on it, i heard all the time a ringing about at 16000hz.

not so loud but constantly.

Send me a pm if you want to talk more about it.

I do but it comes and goes so I don't think I can be of any help to you. All I know is that when its bad I drown it out by listening to music with earbuds. Not sure if that will work for you at all. I hope you find something that makes it easier <3

I've had tinnitus for close to a decade. I had always valued silence a lot before and then once tinnitus set in I felt cheated and robbed. It has been difficult adjusting to it. These days I just blast white noise into my ears nearly 24/7 in order to drown out the sound as best as I can.

Good headphones. But if yours is severe then even that won't help.

Mine gets very bad at times. Seems like the only solution sometimes would be an ice pick to the eardrum.

My plans to ctb have been derailed because of the pandemic. I don't want to risk failing an attempt and going to the hospital, because I have a parent with a pre-existing health condition and I can't risk them getting sick. I feel like I'm actually losing my mind. I feel so full of despair.

Maybe i misunderstood you when you say you try to ignore it. It didn't take that as blocking it. My bad.
Like i mentioned earlier.. it makes doing phone support interesting when it it goes nuclear LOL
But thank you for the reply :smiling:

Does anyone's tinnitus end up getting high pitched for a few seconds? That's when it gets unbearable for me.

Someone on another thread claimed they asked their doctor to remove their hearing but the doc told them that they'll still hear it. I think we're stuck with it until we die.

I can't find it right now, but I remember seeing a study before about a patient with tinnitus who had surgery to sever the auditory nerves and just became deaf with tinnitus instead of getting rid of the dreadful sound. The phantom sound resides in the brain unfortunately.

Yeah, I've read that in most cases where the auditory nerves are cut, the tinnitus still remains. Except the patient is then deaf with tinnitus. I can't imagine how there can be a god.

Could be useful for someone else wondering about. It's odd now ,talking with other people here that have it. No one IRL that i know has it.
At least people understand what we go through :smiling:

Yea. I know it sounds strange but on top of everything else it hardly feels like a concern most of the time. I dunno if it's a side effect of my migraine or what but it is nearly constant and occasionally gets very loud and ringing.

I do have a method to make it stop for a bit. Press your palms against your ears with your hands wrapped around to the back of your skull. Then tap your fingers while pressing down firmly, for like 30 seconds or so. It makes it stop or quiet down, at least for me.

I've had it for 4 years. Here are things that help:
1. Mask with frequency close to the higher pitch noises you hear. Nature sound tracks with crickets help. I use a free online site mynoiseDOTnet. Another free app I found useful is spectrum view. it give you a real time chart of the frequencies in your environment. adding frequencies to your environment that match the tinnitus sound have helped me. Mine is due to high frequency hearing loss.
2. Don't talk about how bad it is. No one will understand. Talk about what you are going to try
3. protect your hearing. avoid loud places.
4. experiment with supplements that help your overall wellbeing as I don't believe any supplement will stop the tinnitus. at least some supplements help your body deal with stress.
5. Only research as needed. Too much doom and gloom out there.

Hope something in this post helps. I completely understand how you feel. I can barely walk due to cipro which also made the T worse but if I had a magic wand and could only fix one of my health issues, it would be the tinnitus.

I've had it since I was 9. Either it's faded over the decades or I've gotten good at distracting myself from it - probably both. Mine was never *very* bad. I feel for those of you who suffer from the monster variety.

I've had it since I was a kid. I'm 33 now. To me, silence is the sound of insects at night. It can get pretty bad, but I've just gotten used to it because I can't even remember what it was like without it. Lately, I've been having pulsatile tinnitus and that's more distracting and uncomfortable for me.
