I decided to go for a 3m drop to be sure. What I don't know is where can a rope be attached securely? Say, in a generic apartment or a hotel room.

The only thing I can think of is if the balcony has a metallic rod.

I wonder if this would work for me too. Only thing is I weigh little and I don't want to get decapitated. I just want to break my neck

In a long drop hanging, the rope must be securly anchored. If not it can come undone when the weight hits the end of the rope. 3 m is an awful long drop. There are tables developed by the British Government for doing a long drop. The drop distance is based on the weight of the person. The lighter the person the longer the drop.
