It doesn't make sense but kinda does in a different sense. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is when life has gotten so bad watching or seeing happy people makes you feel worse than actually watching depressing movies and documentaries, in fact, they make you feel at home, comfortable and safe it's actually kind of fucked up tbh.

Oh, I know that feel. I found myself in that cycle way too often. I'm, like, allergic to happy people now, and can't stop browsing through bad news (a frequent visitor on collapse subreddit, for instance). It's a twisted, addictive contentment that just reinforces my negativity.

I can fully relate, though I am not in a negative frame of mind currently, I still feel bad each time I am reminded of my failures in life and seeing 'happy' people brings all that home.

The only time I'm happy is when I'm sleeping

Depression seems to feed itself. At least my particular flavour does.

Like those parasites that cause rats to seek out cats so they'll be eaten and continue their life cycle. When you're past a point, the only things that feel good are what make the depression worse.

It makes alot of sense actually. Negativity makes you connect with bad things around the world, you feel less lonely, it makes you happy that your suffering is shared.
Its the same with ctb and the feeling of despair. Our brains really hate the feeling of disconnection or being unable to solve a problem. Suicidal ideation mitigate this problem.

It makes sense. When you are depressed, you only see negativity. You stop caring about how good or well other people are doing because you yourself are suffering.

yes, one reason because so much of the 'happiness' in the world seems so fake and contrived that when I am depressed I feel more honest and true. Don't know if this makes any sense....
