What's your favorite movie? /recommendations?

Favorite movies: Kill Bill, Truman Show, the Toy Story movies, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (recommend watching the anime show before this movie), A Certain Magical Index The Movie - The Miracle of Endymion. I watched the anime series in a specific to this film.(https://www.cbr.com/a-certain-magical-index-anime-best-watch-order/) I haven't watched the Index film in so long so I can't remember if it's important to watch in that specific order.

I still need to watch Joker, Black Swan and Taxi Driver!

LOVED Joker, saw it in theaters twice (alone, hahaha). Black Swan was really good too.

Recently I saw the new D&D movie and adored it. Also saw this indie film, Exit (2011). REALLY good, and given my mental state the story and metaphors hit particularly hard. You can find it on Youtube.

I'm listing some movies that are not the most popular picks per se but are some of my all time favorites nonetheless.
BARTLEBY
- a big eerie eff you (...more like "i would prefer not to") to wage slaving or corporate Amurica all together, epic
THE FALL
- an amazing spectical, takes you all over the world specifically to some of the more magical sights, not to mention great storytelling, took the director 7 years to make if I remember correctly
RAVENOUS
- A fun cannibal movie, its neither too obscene or gimmicky, its just right but got a little twista madness to keep it strange
THE PASSION OF DARKLY NOON
- hear me out, especially pj harvey/brendan fraser fans, this is one of those movies that makes some feel like it was made for them, maybe a little 2 silly/unsettling for others.. 10/10
XIU XIU THE SENT DOWN GIRL
- it's a very good movie if you're not turn off by the depiction of true hopelessness, I imagine many on this forum might even appreciate that it lacks the rose colored glasses

ohhh i liked the truman show too!! you neeeeedddd to watch joker if anything i wish i could watch it for the first time again

Surprisingly, I liked Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

I like some of Michael Haneke's films. Amour (2012) is quite good. It's about life and death. Isabelle Huppert is my favorite actress. Her films usually have a dark side.

I really like tarentinos movies: pulp fiction, reservoir dogs, django unchained etc.. they are all really good.

your eyes tell (2020) has a special place in my heart; i recommend this one if you enjoy romance. <3

Anything from ghibli studios, personal favorites: Totoro and then Howl's Moving Castle

My top 2 movies are "A Silent Voice," and "Howl's Moving Castle." They're both animated movies. A Silent Voice is about a deaf girl and her bully who both struggle with depression. Howl's Moving Castle is a Ghibli movie that's just super nostalgic for me, and I highly recommend also reading the book.

My absolute 150% favorite movie of all time is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. It's objectively bad from a story telling standpoint but is visually stunning and I am also very obsessed with trippy shit, southern gothic, the desert and very tight casts with 2-3 relevant characters.

I love black swan and taxi driver too! for someone into them I'd say check out one of these four

1. Bad lieutenant
2. Constantine
3. No country for old men
4. Jacobs ladder
