• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I find animation to be pretty therapeutic. They have the advantage of being able to create worlds far removed from our present reality. As someone who is constantly pained in our present reality, having an alternative to get absorbed into lets me turn off my brain for a bit. I've been trying to let myself do that more, give my brain a break.

Anyway for me it's ADVENTURE TIME or anything by my sweet beloved Studio Ghibli!
Would love to hear what other people enjoy as well :)

Death Note was the first manga I obtained the full series for! Really great stuff :)

Belladonna of sadness, huge trigger warning for literally everything though. I love how it tackles its topics and delivers its message plus the psychedelic art style never stops being fun. Color is used sparingly so when its around it means something and it makes everything just pop out more.

Omg rlly? Never found someone who likes it too :O
Really? I have many friends who do! It's always meant a lot to me, and I love how it portrays certain mental problems. Also, it's just so cool. Idk how to explain it but they managed to create such a "cool" effect, I love the vibe

I have heard of this! The art is absolutely stunning and I've been meaning to get around to it for a while. Thanks for reminding me!

Probably an obvious one:

'Spirited Away'.

I love the story, the characters. I always feel that little bit stronger after watching it.

While the writing fell off after season 3 and the writing for season 8 was horrible, I can't help but find that VLD has a special place in my heart. Alongside that show, I also really love Bojack Horseman and NGE.

Same. Very much same. I have such a connection to that film that even the soundtrack transports part of me to that feeling.

I haven't checked out VLD but I'll take that recommendation! Bojack is phenomenal, such an incredible balance of emotional depth and brilliance with the slapstick/sitcom style they are playing off of. That show loves to break my heart. NGE is one I have started but need to finish. I found its pacing so much better than a lot of animated series. Lots of atmosphere, lots of room to breathe and take in the gravity of what's happening. You don't often get that in animation, especially these days.

Adventure Time is definitely my favorite too! I write (mostly unpublished) novels and short stories, and Adventure Time has been a huge influence on my story telling. My spouse and I have Finn and Jake best friends keychains.

I don't know about everyone else, but the no.1 thing I find most fascinating about SS is simply the absolutely enormous quantity of people on this forum who have similar tastes in media to me.

As an example: Girl's last tour, adv time and bojack are all easily some of my favorite animated works, and the list of tv shows that I personally like is actually incredibly small-

So to see all of those works mentioned so quickly in such a short thread is rather surreal.

Not to mention the sheer quantity of profile pics I've seen on this site that directly reference some weird obscure piece of art that I love is almost shocking at times-

It has all led me to wonder how much correlation there is between depressive/suicidal tendencies and the types of art that people gravitate towards 🤔

But I'm rambling now. Cool thread

Tatami Galaxy. If you haven't watched it yet, I STRONGLY suggest you to do it. Unique, to say the least.
And Cowboy Bebop of course.

I don't have a single favourite unless I've watched it very recently. It's been a couple of years since I've watched Blue Period though, so I hope it still holds up well. I'm contemplating rewatching it.

Been on a Over the Garden Wall kick so far. It's so cozy. Also throw in a number of Adult Swim animes for the nostalgia. There is Amazing Digital Circus, just feels way too relatable to my state of mind right now…
