What rope works best for hanging?

Hanging is another option for me and I would like to know what type of rope would work? I am thinking about using belt as a option too.

On the hanging mega thread they say a neck tie would work fairly well. I tried last night and though it held it wasn't enough pressure to kill me.

I'd like to know too. I have a thick scarf I might use. Was planning on buying a cheap necktie somewhere and try that
