What makes a member popular on SS?

I think there are some influences what makes a member of this forum popular. People who genuinely care for other people, people who are empathic, witty and articulate people (but this is not a necessity) and people who give more help than they take. Especially the last point does not count for me. I also try to help other people but I think I take more ressources than I give to others. Instead I hope I can give the feeling to other people that they are not alone when I share my story. That there are also people who feel this way. I am too much of a wreck to spend the majority of my energy to help others. This does not mean I don't try it. But there are people who have the dedication to act this way. I think this makes them very popular.
Moreover I sometimes share (very) unpopular/controversial opinions which not everybody likes. But I never felt like (longterm) negative repercussions for that.
In addition to that my whining about myself and my pain may be perceived as a little bit narcissistic. Even in this thread I talk a lot about myself. (But I think this feeling applies to many depressed people.)

Edited the thread afterwards. Was too much of a contest character and I was not glad with that. I wanted to compliment some people but it turned out to be a dumb way how I did it.

In what world am I "popular"? Some people liked my jokes when I was funny back in the spring of '21, that's about it. I am too self-centered and unstable to reach "rather female"-level.

Also, I agree with the people that are against this site being some status/popularity contest. I don't see much of it, thankfully; but when people sometimes say that they are "hated" or whatever on here, doesn't sit right with me. I guess the "scores" and shit doesn't help. Well, it can serve a larger purpose. For example, if the site was cold and barren I'd probably not have stuck around long enough to throw some shitty methods in the bin. Took me months to realize that I needed a good method.

Yeah, that would be pathetic. There are members who post once in a blue moon, but who always say things that move me &/or make me think & I occasionally check if I missed something they commented on.

I honestly was not sure whether to put you Gensesandenvironment in this category. I did not do it because your humor is sometimes controversial I think. I like most jokes you do. But humor is something very subjective and not everyone likes those jokes.

Partly I think this is true. But for example if you feel hated, unwelcomed or despised this is a feeling which matters. I did not mean it in the way being as opportunistic as impossible in order to gain popularity. I think this question partly comes from my paranoia. Because when I am paranoid I think the people are against me.
And I have read the same exact thought (the people are now after my remarks against me on SS and interact less with me) from another person who had psychosis too. (probably paranoia). I think she quit the forum afterwards.

Nothing wrong with your post. It was honest and I like that. I have a few tricks if you want to become popular on the forum but honestly I wouldn't bother. Stay true to yourself. That's how to form real connections

I think it's mostly participation. You start seeing the same names over and over and you start paying attention.

I remember a lot of personal history of like five people on here, but it's because I read a lot of their comments, so I tend to remember them and build an idea of who they are in my head. But the people who rarely comment/post, regardless of the quality, are quickly forgotten in a sea of usernames.
