I've been on meds, hospitalized once, through one residential program (eating disorder), three php and one iop treatment center programs, and TMS treatment (in the middle of it)
(not all in this order)

I'm wondering what everyone else has tried or not tried

I'm almost 2 years hospitalized.
involuntarily... meds are. 300mg wellbutrin. 3x day Clotiapine. And 1 lormetazepam. Also Every month a shot in my ASS with clopixol. I used to take sipralexa, serlain, trazodone, zyprexa, nozinan, dominal forte, risperdal, seroquel. None of them helped me. Only the wellbutrin make a difference. I get energy of iT and im early awake in the morning

Now i Made an order for sn so they Can Kiss my ASS. No way im staying till october

2 YEARS??? That's insane. How will you sneak it past them though? And you're allowed to have your phone? I wasn't. That's horrible that they've kept you that long.

it is extended every time. 3 months. 4 months. 6 months. 3 months and so on. I may keep my phone. Also we have a cafetaria with a pc with internet. Normally we're not allowed to get things deliverd. But with the Corona we may order stuff online. Now its just hoping the receptionist give iT to me

How is the TMS going? I have had ECT which worked well until the effects wore off (along with countless hospitalizations and drug regimens)

I've heard ect works pretty well but the side effects can be pretty bad

2. Medication: A few SSRI's, and now an atypical antipsychotic.
3. Diet/Nutrition
4. Exercise
5. Writing
6. Self-Hypnosis
7. Meditation
8. Yoga
9. Reading.

Those are the biggest ones...next up, I'm taking some expensive gut health tests...
Bacterial imbalances in the gut can cause a ton of mood issues, even if eating healthy.

I have been on meds, two hospitalizations, residential, supposed to do an IOP and PHP program but said fuck that, tried EMDR, ACT, DBT, CBT and was told they wouldn't work for me, tried couples therapy, tried regular therapist but she said I was too difficult (whatever the hell that means) and that I need to see her psychic and do reverse hypnosis --uhhmmm, no thanks. Last thing I tried was therapy with a PTSD specialist and that wasn't doing shit since I doubt I even have PTSD. It's hella frustrating.

I've tried many medications, individual therapy, group therapy (ACT and others), ECT, TMS and I've had a bunch of hospital stays. Longest was four months.

currently I am seeing a psychologist weekly, a psychiatrist every month or so and taking lithium, rexulti, prozac and Seroquel.

I'm an absolute mess.

I've been in the process of exhausting my options and life's help for years. Had several diagnoses and concomitant treatments - meds, individual therapy, group DBT, a hospital stay; and I've failed to overcome non-medical milestones like obtaining a degree, despite having multiple attempts.

I know many people benefit from medical intervention, but in my case it's made it all worse. I do believe people should try and exhaust all options. However, I also understand how pointless it can all feel and how mental health professionals can homogenise your identity and experiences and misunderstand your issues.

I have been in psych ward for three months in 2019, February Marrch and April.
I started taking Sertraline there, and had psychotherapy, sport therapy, art therapy etc. of course.
Now I started taking Mirtazapine about 4/5 weeks ago, and yesterday I started taking Pregabalin as well and Lorazepam as Emergency-Medication:

Sertralin
Mirtazapine
Pregabalin
Lorazepam (As needed)

I am in a queue of a Psychotherapist, but I am waiting for it for at least another 6 months.
If I am making it till then...
Lots of diagnoses, and a lot of shit started happening a couple of months ago, backstabbing is on of it.

The American mental health system just seems to throw drugs at you, no matter what the problem but never actually addresses the fact that what causes depression, bipolar etc is trauma. Unless you treat the cause, no matter how many pills you swallow, it'll keep coming back. But I guess it's cheaper to give you a bottle of SSRIs and say come back in three months than to offer any sort of practical means to address trauma.

a couple of months on ADHD meds, felt nice tbh, pharma grade & legal stims, but I stopped them due to being concerned about abusing them.
sectioned to a mental hospital for 9 weeks, from this point onwards about 2.5 years on paliperidone then just under 6 months on risperidone which worked great, some side effects.
came off these recently and my symptoms haven't returned.

Highest prescribed dose of pristiq, anxiety sleep aids, have been in full in patient with severe depression and anxiety for one week and was put in partial hospitalization for 14 days. All for depression and suicidal ideation. I have never taken any drugs and have maybe one glass of wine a year at Christmas. It's been interesting at group therapy: I'm the only person there without a drug problem.

It's true. The only time I've ever managed to even mildly let go of my depression is when I was in a loving relationship for a few years.

If all we need is peace and hugs then why don't we all just partner up?

I'm 30, slightly overweight, depression and anxiety, dead end job and completely broke.... Any takers?

Currently on 200mg of pristiq, but in the past have tried several other antidepressants and an atypical antipsychotic, and have been doing fortnightly schema therapy for about 7 months and I also see a psychiatrist every 6 weeks (and on and off therapy over the past 13 years). I think I am starting ECT in the next few weeks.

I've been hospitalized twice, once following a suicide attempt, and once involuntarily because I stupidly decided to open up to a counselor at school about a second attempt my parents caught me in the middle of. I've been put on a few different meds but right now I'm on Effexor and lithium for bipolar disorder. I see a therapist and have a psychiatrist for the meds right now.

Wow that sounds like torture, I'm so sorry that you have to deal with being there so long.

Was prescribed flouxetine in high school, can't remember the dosage off the top of my head but I remember it made me feel like I was walking around with some weird, plastered, unnatural smile on my face. Like, the meds were telling my mind "smile!", but my mind couldn't conjure it up. I admittedly was kinda fucky with taking the correct dosages and taking it regularly so this probably had some effect as well.

Had one brief, inpatient stay at the psych ward sophomore year of HS, they got me on track with taking the medication regularly and properly and setting me up with therapy, other than that, it was pretty useless, I remember sitting around coloring color book pages and watching Ratatouille. Can't say either of those helped in curing.

I guess I'm not opposed to trying new meds or even taking ketamine or some shit, I'm just not quite sure if it's the right course for me.

I've been on and off various antipsychotics since I was 17 (I'm 37 now). I've spent about two years cumulatively in psychiatric hospitals. I've spent two years cumulatively in two different supported living accommodation places. I've taken antidepressants that doubled up as anti anxiety meds. That's about it, very little therapy apart from occupational therapy. I've pretty much just idly washed downstream on the river of the minimum support for my condition, schizophrenia.
