Since my last failed attempt of CTB, i've found myself rewinding through my memories a lot, often coming across those top good times i've been through, those one that sometimes even make me reconsider my decision (until i remember, the people i had those memories with are no longer with me) so i'm curious to see what you guys, does remembering it again also makes you wanna reconsider your decision?

I have honestly a few good memories, but my personal favorite is a year ago, when i was staying a weekend in my boyfriend's house (which lives in a mountain around 3 hours away from the city, which i love because it's so pretty, cold and the stars at night are beautiful) we went to a walk to a nearby forest, he took his guitar with us, and when we got to a clear space he sat down then started singing a song out of the blue (my favorite, one we both dedicated to the other) i was so shocked... i started crying of PURE happiness, i couldn't believe what was happening, it was a magical moment for real, after it ended i just hugged him for minutes and whispered ''thank you'' and ''i love you'' in his ear. Most of my favorite memories are with him and his family, another i really like remembering too is one night we were making dinner the three of us (he, his mom and me) and they started singing a very precious song in portuguese (they lived in Brazil years ago, they taught me the language too) i got so emotional and sad that i cried, because i never had that kind of thing with my mother... when they finished, they realized i was crying, hugged me very tightly, his mom kissed my cheek and said ''You're part of the family, we love you a lot, you know?''

Those are the kind of days i really wish i could have back, so what is yours?

When people ask me this I'm always at a loss because nothing really stands out, my life has just been trudging through the sludge.

I guess my senior year of high school because then I had drive and potential to be sucessful, now I'm dead inside and done trying.

I totally get that feeling... Perhaps one of those of highschool days that made you feel like life wasn't so awful would make it to be a good memory at least

@TheLastStraw describes many of us. Every good memory is accompanied by....IDK anywhere from 2-7 bad ones and the search feature to our memory SUCKS.

After trying...the one that stuck out first was back in senior year of high school.

I was at a coed birthday party+sleepover. Birthday girl and her friend got into an argument late at night (at midnight, give or take an hour).
Only other witnesses were me and the boyfriend (who I was good friends with).
Being weird and wanting to relieve the tension, I:
  • went into the kitchen
  • brought out the delicious caramel something cake for the potluck dinner (that no one but me ate...)
  • danced until those 3 looked at me/I got their attention
  • proceed to slam my face into that perfectly good cake
  • came back up cakefaced going like this
    giphy.webp
They didn't laugh.
The cake was good though.

\edit I'm too used to reddit. didn't realize this platform also allows the awesome option of putting in gifs in a reply.

That sounds like a wonderful memory.
Honestly, it's hard for me to have a favourite. Good ones tend to start bringing me pain when the rest around them & my regrets hit
Perhaps one of my memories from Middle School with my best friend of the time, he would always take me on adventures & hang out with me after school (helped that he just lived down the road). He was the one person who made me feel like I was wanted & cared for, until I messed that up

I have a few where I remember being incredibly happy (not sure if this is the word), though
One was of me sitting at the (glass) front door as probably a toddler, sometime before I started any form of school at least (this is my earliest memory), and watching my brother & dad do... something. Then the rest of my childhood began, and that... wasn't so nice
Another I was having a really nice dream, of which I can only remember a lot of people locking hands & having the feeling of being incredibly loved, then my parents woke me up
Then, and this is an interesting one, the time when I passed out at the sight of blood and hit my head on the wall. While I was "unconscious", I was flying through the universe, without any physical form, past millions of stars a second, and I was finally at peace. It's hard to even describe how amazing it was. This one might actually be my favourite, thinking about it, just too bad it lasted for such a short time. Passing out since then has not brought such bliss, but I've never found it unpleasant either

that sounds like a beautiful trip over space though, and well... often the cost of good memories is the pain of rememering them, and seeing again how bad life has become

My favorite memory is August 31 2000. Around 6 PM. I went to the barn and found my fathers dead body. He beat me since before I was out of diapers. I worked out some of my aggression towards him a week or two ago. I stopped by the cemetery and opened fire on his tombstone. And I plan on doing it again until his stone is destroyed. If I wasn't stuck in a fucking wheelchair I would step up and piss on his stone as well. Probably take a shit on his grave while was at it too.

I had two very peaceful suicide attempts. The first time was the best. I was happy. I was comfortable, and the sleep was perfect like the kind you get after a long day of hard physical work... just drift away. And I was ready.
It is still something I think about at night. It makes me very sad but, if I can just focus on the part before it failed. Nothing better .... I was satisfied and happy. I was ok for once.

One of my favorites is when I was on deployment in 2007-2008. Our ship was anchored right off the coast of Thailand. We (pilots and helicopter/C-130 maintenance crews)flew in CH-46 helicopters (which are pretty much obsolete now) off the ship to land in Thailand. Our detachment worked in Utapao (the airfield where our helicopters were located) but we lived in a hotel in Pattaya Beach about 45 minutes away. We were in Thailand for a month total living and working. I was an electrician on Huey and Cobra helicopters at the time. We also went to the Phillipines and Okinawa, Japan on that deployment.

My other good memories were of graduating Marine Corps boot camp. Marine Corps boot camp itself was so much camradarie and bonding and fun. Shooting our M16A4 rifles during A-line and BWT. The crucible which is 1 week long and full of team building mental exercises. Rappelling from a tower. Marine Corps martial arts. Swim qualification, etc.So much fun!

Junior and senior year of high school as well as the following year that I took off after graduation. Best years of my life. Lived at my girlfriends with my two best friends. We were like family. Always had little family dinners, and parties with a bunch of people over. I would do anything to go back and live it all over again <3 Who knows...maybe the bus will take me back there...

Wow! what an amazing trip must have been that!!! I haven't seen much of the world, actually never gotten out of my home country, but it must have been hella awesome to visit so many places, even if it was for work

Man those friends that are like family are honestly the best people oneself can come across to, i had one like that too. I like to think sometimes that maybe after we take the bus, we could live eternally in our happiest memories
