I grew up pretty religious but my depression and suicidal thoughts has really hurt my faith in god. Sometime I really believe in god and other time I'm just not sure.

Sometimes when I get high I just think to myself, What is life? Why am I even here? Do I even exist? And what the point of it all?

I know people have been asking these questions since the beginning of man. Will I find out the truth to the universe after I die or will it all go blank and that is it?

What do you guys think is the point of life?

I have no idea what the point of life is, but last night I went to a humanist meeting for the first time. I know very little about it but the second I met them I realised that there were people in the world just like me, who doubted religion and preferred to base our lives on being good people and spreading tolerance and equality...

...maybe that's my point of life (not that I want to live it); making the world fairer and more pleasant without religion.

I hope it's the first but technically either way is fine since I wouldn't be able to know.

The meaning of life is to give life meaning. Reality doesn't exist other than your own subjective experience of consciousness. So create your own reality and give your life the meaning that resonates with your soul.

Yea that why I'm a hedonist instead. The problem with humanism is that people want to base what they want to see in people and change society only to realize how futile it is. You can't change human nature.

I've said this to myself also but what meaning can you attach to your life as to make your problems bearable? And to what end especially if you don't enjoy anything like I do. Is the meaning of my life to just work, sleep, smoke pot, etc. rinse and repeat? Either way it's feels like I'm just forcibly lying and distracting myself by creating this so called meaning. And since it's a subjective experience, can the individual deem that it is not worth the effort?

how could i give sense to a life that was imposed on me .. that i didnt chose ..i dont want to pretend that this life is mine… i dont feel it mine .. this suffering is not mine .. i am not mine .. nothing is mine .. i cant make up a purpose or even a reality to make this existence less painful.. it would be illusory .. and i would know it .. i am here and i don't know why .. this is the only certainty i have , the rest is just a vast hurtful mistery

exactly, i always feel like the "you give life meaning" is a cop out, how can we give this life meaning? It's not truly ours, we didn't create our own life, and death really just seems like it would be easier than trying to find a reason. Imo if there's nothing at all after death life is truly pointless, but if there's some form of afterlife maybe there's a reason we're here. I'm not religious but i do wonder what caused the big bang, and it isn't that big of a leap to call it god. It's not conclusive evidence but sometimes it's enough to give me hope that there's a point to all this

for me there 's no reason that could ever explain all this misery and suffering .. thinking that there could be something after this life , whatever it is , wouldnt change anything in how i am feeling... nothing could ever validate this intrinsically evil life.. even the heavenly promises of religion ..

There is no point ... we are here because of evolution/nature/procreation. That's it. Nothing more nothing less. I have no need for a "reason" why we are here and who we are.

That's my personal view at least.

Well, I'm not in your life so I cannot speak for you or what your problems may be. Only my own and all the abuse and trauma that I faced throughout my own life. I am only ctb due to physical and health issues that are out of my control. If you or anyone else deems life not worth the effort than that is the meaning you are attaching.. It's your life.

I am done even attempting to even speak about life or existence with anyone on this site. This is the last time I will say anything remotely even close to this topic.

Right now life for me is just unbearable pain and suffering. But life in general is just growing old and procreating. All living beings only exist to continue existing ( as a species). makes sense?

We're here to experience what we are experiencing. I don't understand why, and to be fair, I don't really want to understand why. I believe in the teachings of Christ, but outside of the gospels, rarely do I take anything from the bible into account. Hence, I am a pro-choice (Suicide and abortion), anti-war, anti-clerical, and essentially anti-nationalist.

When you die? I believe you become part of a greater collective consciousness that is apart of a much higher and grander dimension. I do believe that Jesus, Krishna, Gautama Buddha, and many other known and unknown (forgotten & lost) religious figures spoke about or described. I do believe that you can connect with this greater limited conciousness through meditation and meditative activities.

I am also a believer that people are inherently good. I think that we've already (Very loosely) chosen our outcome here previously. When you die, don't expect to go to hell.

I'm just gonna give it to you straight, I don't know but when I find out it'll be too late. I'll have to send the information back in time but my feeble mind won't be able to comprehend the message so it'll all just be pointless anyway. I think the answer was 42
