I hate any toxic positivity or anti-suicide phrase, they just come across as so insensitive and nonsensical to me, one that literally makes no sense to me is "you make your own luck" which completely disregards the fact that we exist in a world where people are suffer all through no fault of their own due to chance so cruelly determining everything.

"Just sit there and look pretty"
I had a guy tell me this, and the way I wanted to go off on him.

'Cheer up- it might never happen'.

Usually people say it randomly when they have no clue as to what's going on in your life. You could have literally just come from a funeral. But yeah- that and people telling you to 'smile'. Like- give me something to smile about and I'll do it.

The phrase "good for you."
Is this bad to say? I think I often use the phrase but I actually mean it when someone has an achievement. Is there an alternative? English isn't my first language and I'm not that good at reading between the lines

I know it's a classic but the "how are you" when you alredy expect me to say fine.
I know I don't get cause i'm autistic and I fucking hate made up conversations but you shouldn't ask if you are not ready to hear me venting about my life.
Everytime i have to say fine to just end the conversation it's just so stupid to me.
At least with my friends im starting to be honest and venting on stuff rather than just saying its chill because I would like they do the same when I ask how are you, I would like to know the truth of what you are feeling

Personally, everyone who has ever said to me "good for you" didn't mean it. A lot of people who say this phrase say it out of jealousy. Like many people who use this phrase basically mean—alright, good for you, (but not good for me so I don't care about your achievement). If someone uses negative tone when saying "good for you" then they are surely jealous and do not care about your achievement. But yes, due to my own experiences I do find this phrase highly arrogant.
