Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Ive seen people drink water w like 3-5 spoons of salt. What does it actually do? Has anyone tried it? If yes, what were the effects?

in my experience, it tastes like shit and makes you vomit. i did it one time trying to make myself throw up and it was not a fun experience, worse than throwing up from too much to drink.

I imagine you would get very bloated for a while. Salt + water = water retention. That's why electrolytes can taste salty sometimes and why they tell people with POTS to ingest a lot of salt and electrolytes.

To my knowledge people do that as an emetic (makes you vomit). It's not surefire though and there is a risk of toxicity if there's too much salt, so it's not recommended. The toxicity can cause brain damage (shrinkage) since the high sodium levels in your blood will pull water out of your organs. If doctors attempt to correct it too aggressively, you risk even more brain damage from swelling because your brain will first try to correct the shrinkage on its own, but that's a slow process and it won't be able to stop just because you've been pumped full of fluids. This is not a good way to ctb because it's a lot more likely you'll be brain damaged than anything else. People survive hypernatremia (high sodium in blood) all the time, and those who don't suffer a lot on their way out. It's not a quick death by any means.

Here's an overview of Hypernatremia
