If I were going to book a hotel to jump, what excuse can I give so I don't seem suspicious for booking a hotel room with no luggage JUST in case someone working there asks or tries to make conversation? I have a young face so obviously I'm not going for work. And the town the hotel is in is not a place people come for vacation. I'm also going to ask for the highest floor. Is this all extremely suspicious?

Why not bring a backpack? You can say something that your house or apartment is getting painted or there is no water for a day. Asking for high floor is not suspicious but most hotel room windows do not open all the way. You'll need to find a room with a balcony. And you should jump from at least 15 stories.

You're better off finding a really tall parking garage and leaping off of that.

You don't gotta explain shit to anybody. Just act normal speak with confidence. Focus on your goal. Think on your feet. Have a reasonable excuse though I doubt you will need one. Say as little as possible so nothing slips. It is kind of hard to hold it together with all the anxiety knowing you're ready to off yourself.

I can understand the need to prepare answers, even if you never need them.

Based on what you said, I'd say my room mate had a new boyfriend/girlfriend and I needed to get away for the night to get some proper sleep. You want a high floor for the best views.

As long as you have A story then you're fine, even if they don't believe it. They're a hotel, they just want your money, they're not going to try and deny you the room (unless they knew your real plans of course).

I don't think it's suspicious. I would just say I needed a place to stay for the night.

You don't need any type of excuse at all. I've booked several hotels without luggage.

You could say you want the highest possible room because you want an excellent view.

Note, a lot of hotels have windows that don't open or won't open enough for you to fit through, so you may want to make sure there's a balcony or something.

Just order the hotel online. You'll have a way better chance of getting exactly what you want.

Go in there, ask for the key and how to get your room, and just say you left the luggage in your car because you don't want to carry around a bunch of shit until it's needed.

This would be ideal, and yes I agree that if you have a backpack you could pass off as an adult student.

You're better off finding a really tall parking garage and leaping off of that.

This is a good alternative if you don't get the hotel option, and make sure it is sufficiently high and that you fall on your head instead of your legs or other body parts. This is to ensure that you are knocked out on impact and maximizes the chance of death significantly. Falling on other body parts not only has a high chance of survival, but you'll end up crippled, possibly a vegetable, and in immense amounts of pain that you'd wish you were dead. I have heard of a story of someone who jumped out of a 10 story building (he's not suicidal but tried to evade police for drugs or something) and he survived with many broken bones and what not.

no, jk : ) I do seriously work at a hotel and the only thing you really ever need is a credit card that authorizes and a valid id. Make sure to request a top floor room asap though cuz they do go fast.

but i've never heard any of the staff i work with ponder about some guy with no luggage, we're just not that attentive to detail

You won't look suspicious going into hotel without luggage. As long as you have money they will give you the keys. I'm curious - how many stories high are you planning to do this?

Unless you plan on breaking the window or it's old fashioned hotel that has windows that open all the way, I'm not really sure how you expect to jump out the window. Maybe sneak up on the roof?

I'm using an authorized credit card, my parents' account, in my name. I do hope it works. I'll make sure to bring my ID. And your post made me laugh out loud, thank you.

Minimum 15. I'm only going to go to a hotel that has more than 15 floors. It's hard because with some, only one side of the hotel is over concrete. The other sides are over grass, a pool etc. There's one I'm considering that's surrounded by concrete so I'm hoping that one works out. I'm going to ask for the highest floor. There's a "VIP suite" but it's not listed on their site. I wonder if they just don't use that suite? It's huge though. It's on the top floor, and it has a terrace on all sides. Perfect. I think it might be suspicious if I ask for that. It's a huge suite and I'm traveling alone, not sure if it would seem odd. But if that doesn't work out, I'll try to get the 15-20th floors. Would really prefer 30 but the 25+ story hotels here are mostly over grass.

Thanks, yeah, that was a concern. I made sure the ones I'm considering have windows that open wide enough. There were some I was really considering that were very high but I realized the windows didn't open so I gave those up.

I see that you're only 18... i know that this site is pro CTB , but please reconsider . You have many years to CTB.. 18 seems so young to make this decision... but obviously you're in pain and you feel you need to do this....so i respect that but I wish you'd take a breathe and pause...

Need more advice, does anyone have any tips? How do I request the highest floor without sounding weird? I look and sound very young. I've been mistaken for a 15 year old before (obviously I'm going to bring a valid form of ID.) I'm afraid I'll sound suspicious because of my voice on the phone while I'm making the reservation. I'm thinking of just saying: "I'd like the highest floor too, please." How do I ask WHAT floor they're giving me before they confirm the reservation on the phone? The hotel has 30 stories. Maybe their idea of a high floor is 10 floors up, though, and I want it to be at least 20, preferably. So how do I say "What floor?" without sounding extremely suspicious? I'd like some ideas on the wording I should use.

Just relax... say you want a floor near the top. You won't sound suspicious, people do this all the time. If they ask (which they won't), just say you want the best view of the area on a top floor

It's a hotel. The employees are their to make your stay more comfortable. They probaly won't ask about your luggage but if they do it's not becuase they think it's suspicious you don't have any luggage they are just trying to be friendly and make conversation. You just say I want a room on a tall floor, it's not suspicious it just mean s you want a good view. Keep in mind not all hotel windows fully open though-that could be the only issue.
