What do you think? Am I just already a grumpy, out-of-touch, old man? Have I not been exposed to enough newer stuff? Or does it actually suck now?

I am that same age, but I think classic music (late 60s to early 90s) is so much better than modern music. There is so much more artistry and originality and more complex musical compositions. I've tried getting into more modern stuff and like some of it but overall I just don't think it's as interesting. I also think the production is worse because everything is overly compressed, there is no dynamic range, and everything sounds the same sonically. I am mostly referring to rock/metal music so it may be different in other genres.HA! I so get that. On a slightly related note, I was talking to my 26-year-old physical therapist about music, and he didn't know what a power ballad was. I felt old af!
