I'm thinking about writing something about the movement to make suicide acceptable covering things like this place, Lost All Hope, etc. I specifically want to explain why sites like this are helpful. Anyway, I'd like your thoughts about what you get out of this site. Also, if you think there's something I should cover specifically, let me know. Everything posted here will be on background in my story meaning I won't quote or reference you in any way. If you'd like to be quoted or have your story told, feel free to slide into my DMs.

Loneliness and to speak my mind on the subject with like minded individuals without judgement. Also to gather any information on the method of my choosing.

I guess this site is where people accept that life isnt as perfect as what most people think. Most people think that life is worth suffering for, however it is just not the case for some people. It would be nice if you can cover on accepting others opinion instead of forcing your opinion to others. Like telling people how you can achieve something so can you but in reality it may not be the case for everyone.

i've only been here a couple days, but just in those couple days i've learned so much about others' experiences who are/were in the same situation as me. i've been extremely socially isolated so i live within my own head a lot, and when you get to the point of contemplating suicide the last thing you want to talk about is the weather and other insignificant small talk. but of course you can't tell anyone you wanna kill yourself. and if you do, there is a 95% chance they'll straight off the bat tell you that you have so much to live for despite not knowing anything about you or your situation! when people say that they might as well just be saying 'i don't care but i'm just scared in case you die and i feel guilty' to me. but obviously i don't blame them. it's hard to understand such a complex situation you've never been in and such a serious one for that matter.

i find hope in others who are older than me here and they felt the same way as me at my age. it's almost like looking at their story of their life gives me insight to my potential future.

this site looks at suicide from both sides, that being the users here believe in living by your choice and dying by your choice. so when i speak about my suicide intentions the users don't force their opinions on me regardless of their own state of mind, they look at my situation and actually analyse it, and then make a judgement.

this site is helping me a lot. i'm reconsidering my life a lot more and considering the possibilities in living before i immediately jump to the idea of death (no pun intended).

There are very few "safe" places to discuss suicidal tendencies, being pro-choice about suicide, much less the means and resources available to one so inclined. Who can you talk to? Workmates? Your parents? Even discussing it with your therapist can be a dangerous proposition. In this place, free from judgment and consequences, people can speak their minds and exchange information about a taboo subject with little fear of reprisal.

This.
I would also add that this forum is one of the few places on the internet where it's not a toxic environment, people here seem to be very kind.

The sense of community and belonging, the ability to express myself freely in regards to the topic of suicide without fear of judgment or incarceration (involuntary commitment or locked up against my will), and of course, the discussion of methods. There is pretty must (almost) no other place that I can think of that allows for the discussion of methods of suicide without censorship on the Internet, other than this forum, which makes this forum really special.

I can say that SS saved me -_- because I realised, like others, that you aren't alone in your mental illness and chronic depression and here you can talk about without prejudice or risk of you be misinterpreted and put in mental facility.
I still gonna die but in a better and peaceful manner:smiling:

Initially I came here in the search for a method and I found it a helpful resource.
Reading the ups and downs of the other members helped me with my own journey, knowing I'm not alone and that this is a safe place to talk about how you feel without judgement has meant a lot to me.
Good luck with your endeavours friend.

I think it helps to have people that you can openly reach out to (for questions, to find input, to vent, etc) without having to censor yourself. The resources are also helpful (different methods, how best to use them, where to find them, etc). It's mostly just refreshing. There seems to be no pressure one way or the other; input is made available for people to make their own informed decisions.

Originally, I got a comprehensive understanding of the "ins and outs" of Yew poisoning. Then I discovered the wonderful world of lethal salts! That really added value to my current list of ways to kill myself. Hanging and shooting myself seemed way too easy and obvious.

Then I noticed there were people here. Reading their struggles and concerns made me develop my own opinions and feelings in reguards to suicide. Ironically, it sort of almost made me reconsider killing myself. Not completely... but almost. I saw how it was a complex subject and how different everyone's stories were. You honestly don't get a "real view" of suicide on most sites. You see people being honest here.

Where are these kind people? I've already ran into some unwelcoming things and yet I still feel alone. Maybe this is my destiny, need to come to terms with the fact that I shouldn't be alive. Depression is drowning me again.

What does your mind focus on when you feel especially depressed? Mine goes to mistakes I've made.
