what causes partial to fail?

i know partial hanging will give u severe brain damage if you fail so i'm trying to ensure success. so far the only variables i can think of is the ligature breaking or being found before death. i'll be left alone for an hour so i should be safe and i'm testing my rope to make sure it's sturdy.

Have You tested it and found out haow to black out? That's very important. Its quicker that way.

@user667 partial fails fairly often on this forum, usually due to si, or the rope or support breaking. Most people who try and fail get away with some bruising, or a minor neck injury.

I've literally fallen asleep attached to my door handle sometime last year, and I woke up, still alive, just had a nice bruise
That was with a proper slip knot too, set my duvet up against the door, was comfy, but unsuccessful.

I have seem plenty of people saying they woke up AFTER blacking out, sometimes in a completely different position and even free of the noose. Positioning seems to be a very important factor in failure, as you can manage to blackout, but afterwards your body somehow moves, regaining blood flow to the brain and awakening. I may be biased, but I recall these same people complaining about waking up with tinnitus, that they did not have before, hence, damage to the brain or areas nearby.

Yeah, it's fairly difficult.

I think a neat way to do it would be to tie a heavy weight to something, and throw it from height whilst lying down, wouldn't be super painful but with time it'd be enough to kill you I'd imagine.

Knowing that partial hanging is prone to failure, why does it seem that so many jail inmates are successful at it when they are obviously doing it impulsively and using only materials at hand, usually a bedsheet?

Probably isn't impulsive for inmates, they've got plenty of time to think about these things.

Doubtful they got it right first time round too, but eventually they'll get so fed up they can just stay there, shaking till they pass out, then die.

@booray & @Nicothe13th inmates also have a fairly high and strong securing point, usually the corner of a top bunk. Additionally, if they have a cell mate, that person may help them in their attempt.

Most bedsheets, even those provided to prisoners, are strong enough to fully support a person's weight.

so as long as i can beat SI i should be good right? i'm working on securing my ligature but other than that there's no other precautions i should take?

It's an attractive method in the same way that devouring mom's medicine cabinet is, you can do it without much effort. The laws of life ("no pain, no gain" and "you get out what you put in") are still in effect, however. If your method is ghetto af you're at a high risk of not dying.

Full suspension is fool proof and 100 percent guaranteed death. Only reason I choose SN is because I would rather just pass out comfortably in my bed than choke hanging from a rope and then your body is much worse to find if you hang. Especially if a loved one or relative finds you. Someone hanging from a rope that shit will scar anyone for life they don't deserve to see you like that x

Seems to me that jails could easily prevent this from happening by not providing bedsheets. When I was arrested, there was no bedsheet in my cell.

My point was that there are many examples of people who ctb in their jail cells. This is in spite of surveillance and regular checks by guards. Of course, we only hear about those who successfully ctb, but it seems to happen quite frequently that it begs the question why they are provided with the means to hang themselves if this is something to be avoided.

It's determination by the damned Man. Sheets are strong and perfect to hang with. It's solid determination they get that way out if they don't fancy years in prison. I think death/euthanasia should be readily available anyway with a simple signature. Even more so if you get a prison sentence. They should offer them a nembutal espresso as they get sent in. Should also be available to anyone of sound mind who signs for it so we don't have to hang or shoot ourselves or drink fucking sodium nitrite meant to kill and control feral pigs.

I am interested in how they managed to get Tinnitus unless they were out 3 or 4 minures for damage by hypoxia. Maybe the ears are particularly vulnerable?

Also some people have covered thier mouth so they either can't scream for help or to hide thier tongue when found. Also adding a sealed bag or cutting off nose and mouth to suffocate as an added measure.
