I've been thinking about various methods and chemicals out there to end my life. some are not available for purchase, some won't kill you and would disable you forever instead, some are too painful etc. so eventually one of the final options that has gone through these filters and is approved be me so far is isopropyl alcohol aka rubbing alcohol.

Before this, I was thinking about methanol but that would cause blindness and death could take up to 48 hours which is definitely not what I want. so I did some research on isopropyl alcohol 99% which is used for cleaning computer components often.

According to my research, 300mL of isopropyl alcohol 99% is enough to cause CNS depression and coma by 30-60 minutes and after that death occurs within hours.

I have some questions about it. firstly would isopropyl alcohol really cause quick CNS depression and coma as the sources told me? how painful would ingesting isopropyl be? would the 70% variant of this alcohol be as potent or I should strictly look for the 99% variant? would you advise me to take any pain killer or other precautions before swallowing this alcohol to minimize the pain and make it more peaceful?

I'm fuzzy on the details but a friend of mine was in the hospital with their mother and it was a double room. Guy in the other half of the room had drank half a bottle of isopropyl apparently, I won't go into detail but I can tell you it's absolutely excruciating and idk if it's the kind of pain even painkillers would help. My friend doesn't rattle easily but I can tell even they were kinda messed up listening to it. To my knowledge he lived but apparently the nurses said there'd probably be permanent organ damage as a result

Never heard of that before but I guess it's quite dangerous. I wonder why it's not mentioned in The Peaceful Pill Handbook.

Putatively lethal ingestion of isopropyl alcohol-related case: interpretation of post mortem isopropyl alcohol and acetone concentrations remains challenging

Isopropyl alcohol, or propan-2-ol (IPA), is found in numerous chemicals including alcohol-based hand rubs whose use has been recently widely extended to the general population since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This widespread of IPA use could potentially, but not necessarily, be responsible for an increase in IPA poisoning cases (e.g., in alcoholics and/or for suicide attempt, even more in a lockdown situation). Forensic identification of IPA-related fatalities remains challenging as IPA post mortem detection can also result from antemortem or post mortem production, or post mortem contamination. In order to illustrate this issue, we report the case of a 33-year-old man found dead with a bottle of pure IPA liquid close to him. Toxicological positive results only consisted in IPA (464, 260, 465 and 991 mg/L) and acetone (1560, 2340, 3040 and 1360 mg/L) in blood, vitreous humour, urine and bile, respectively (determinations using headspace gas chromatography with flame ionization detection). These IPA absolute concentrations and IPA-to-acetone ratios appear inferior to those usually reported in the literature (higher than 1000 mg/L and 1.1, respectively) in IPA poisoning cases. In conclusion, this death can be cautiously regarded as an IPA ingestion-related fatality in the hypothesis of a survival time which have promoted IPA metabolism to acetone: this hypothesis is supported by the putative limited IPA-ingested dose. This report emphasizes the fact that post mortem IPA and acetone concentration interpretation involves to take account of (i) results in multiple biological specimens, (ii) complete case history, and (iii) a search of possible IPA presence at the scene of death.

I wonder if they were rescued and that's how they ended up in the hospital or they went on their own. if this alcohol truly induces coma within one hour then tolerating one hour of pain is fine to me. however I would never want to be found and taken to hospital to end up with organ damage and suffer even more.

I actually just had my friend recount the story for me again so the information would be accurate. The guy was there with his mother but he was conscious so that part we don't know. What we do know is it was the SECOND time he'd done it and the nurses said he was gonna have to do dialysis for the rest of his life. So, while I don't know your situation, if it for ANY reason doesn't pan it, your situation is gonna most likely be drastically worse than it is right now.

It's poisoning, brain damage and huge amounts of pain if you fail.
