I want to write but I'm having terrible writers block. What to write about?

This might be boring I'm sorry lol, I'm not a writer but I like books that might be considered boring at first glance but when you read them the story telling is so good you can't put it down. I also really like books relating to mental health because I can connect more.

But my idea is someone joining a cult because they are at the end of their life and they are looking for meaning before they go. They know it's a cult but they feel like there is nothing else left to do where they are at to give them purpose and whenever they search for. The cult ends in a group suicide and they feel morally conflicted but at peace.

My bad if the idea is bad again lol. I've thought about it but I haven't thought too long on it.

a group of 5 kids, aged 14-19. They are like family, live in a wooden house on the edges of a village. They live in a medieval world where magic and monsters exist but their encounters with trolls and such beasts like big spiders, cockatrices, talking anacondas aren't bloody or dangerous. It's more of a moral story, a big troll steals veggies from the town's farmer and it's their jobs as young heroes to solve the issue in a peaceful manner, in the end the troll becomes indebted to the farmer for a while and they become friends, he moves from the cave in the middle of the woods closer to the village. etc. rinse and repeat with every single one of them (the monsters I mean)

I sometimes write upon this but I mostly use my MD to push the story as writing it is boring when my mind can generate it 100 times faster, so a lot of it has "been lost" or not recorded.

It usually helps when I get a melody/song that can "fit" with the story I think about. So see if this helps you. No the same song won't work everytime, at least it doesn't for me.

Seventh Sanctum has some great writing prompts! I highly recommend 'em. They also preceded AI.

Writing Prompts on tumblr is a GREAT resource for full story ideas. Some folx reply to the posts with their own little short stories. My writing project was inspired by a post on there!

I was going to comment look on Tumblr as well. They have a massive writing community, you'd just need to search and filter out everything before finding your niche interests.

I don't know if you're still looking for prompts, so if you're not interested, you can ignore this

The protagonist is a YouTuber who makes longform video essays about vintage games, though they don't get that many views compared to other YouTubers who do the same thing but with better production value. As a result, they go to a garage sale to find an old vintage game no one has played before, and fortunately for them, they find something that'll definitely get them views

what is it that makes a good story and makes it well written so that most people will enjoy it? i've heard it called writerscraft but that seems pretty sad. i don't craft my best rants or conversations and i wouldn't want to. do good writers work mechanically? if so it's a scam and AI will take it over soon.

It varies a lot. One part is mastering language, making yourself understood without exhausting the reader.
AI will be of tremendous help for that. Without AI it's a slow process involving proofreaders.

The other part is about what you want to tell, and how to present it. AI can mimic existing content, but it will have a hard time crafting truly novel narratives.
AI does in a sense give you the most probable answer, assuming that to be correct. For interesting literature, that predictability isn't ideal.

It's not that AI can't be creative. It's more that we can't really device a test, scoring good creativity, which we'd need to train AI for it.
The nature of creativity is such that you can't score it by naively comparing it to prior creative works.

Short prompt but I once got this in high school and it has stuck with me.

Write page 138 from your autobiography.
