My family knew that I had tried to kill myself and that I have suicidal thoughts. They were very sad but supportive, my father spend a lot of time with me trying to convince me not to do it. At the end they asked me to go to psychiatrist and I did.
He gave me three medications to take. Yesterday was my first day under the medication and it was awful. I couldn't sleep and I felt so dizzy. I'm not giving up my suicidal thoughts but I'm just discovering if it could get any good

Respect to you for going. Not an easy thing
to have done at all. It will be challenging adjusting to medication, talking to a complete stranger etc. I just wanted to say a respectful well done without any comment on psychiatry or meds!

Do you mind if I ask what medication you were prescribed?
From my experience anti-depressants can make you feel very suicidal, I've been having suicidal thoughts non-stop since I've been newly put on citalopram last week, I used to be on sertraline.

It gets better though, don't worry you can make it through this. The side effects will fade away within weeks, if they don't please go see a doctor.

Paradoxically, some meds may improve suicidal thoughts for some people. That was my case once: I had meds because of a depression and they made me really suicidal, my wife threw them away.

It takes time to find the right medication. If you have problems with the medication, ask for a meeting with the psichiatrist and explain what is happening.
Sometimes the first days it can have second effects until you are used to it. Also many times the suicidal ideation can be even greater. If you feel so, go urgently to the psichiatrist to check your medication.
A big hug!!!

I'm currently being tossed around the mental health system too. I'm sorry to hear your psychiatrist's medications have not been working for you. I'm meeting my psychiatrist tomorrow, and they're most likely going to give me medication as well. Can I ask what the name of your medication is?

I don't wan to discourage you guys from getting help, but please know that psychiatric medications can be really damaging to your health. The shit made me completely disabled, docs barely speak about the serious ad induced damage.

Good job giving it a shot. I feel like it takes a lot of guts just to even give it a try! I'm doing the same and I get how hard it is. I always feel worse too when trying something new before I know if it's actually working or not. My expectations... find a med as a tool to help. Once I stopped expecting meds to be magic bullets (cure all's) I felt a bit better. At the same time I still feel at peace with death and dying. Talking helps.Trying new meds is rough because it can take a few weeks to know if they are actually working or not. The side effects will hopefully die down for you soon.

I think it's great that you sought help. Antidepressants are not magic, but they do help. Finding the right ones can be a challenge though. The side effects will go away in a couple of days. If there is improvement, you'll start feeling it in 2-4 weeks. If you don't feel better or start feeling worse, talk to your psychiatrist. Best of luck!

I am currently taking 3 medications too

  1. Prozac (For depression and anxiety)
- I been on this or about 4 months
2. Lamictal (For mood stabilizer and for my unknown mood disorder [Most likely bipolar because it runs through my family])
- I been on lamictal for about almost 6 weeks I think

3. Ambien (For sleep. I got on this to be able to sleep besides me smoking weed to sleep)
But lately when I do smoke weed (Indica) I do hallucinate so I have to cut that out.

But I feel more suicidal since I been on this medication honestly. I told my mother but she was like "You were suicidal before" Which she is telling me that I am suicidal before so it makes sense if I am still suicidal. Even though my medication is suppose to eliminate that.

Escita is one of the best ssri (serotonin drugs) because of the lack of side effects.

Abilify though I've had bad experiences with. It gave me restlessness and a sense of impending doom. If you are getting side effects try to get off of anti psychotics, they are very often not nice drugs to be on.

As for the anti-anxiety drug, it is fine but has the disadvantage that they only work for a while and then you get tolerance.

Ugh I feel you. I think normally I would impulsively end my life, but I have managed to wait until I finished what I want to do in life. I want to have a good fun years before shit goes downhill. I want to have a freedom of doing anything I want in the world. Maybe traveling and go crazy. Once that is done and it depends if my mood disorder gets worse. I still get suicidal thoughts tho.

Don't take the meds. Pretend u are taking lol! That shit is poison and can make things much worse. The psychiatric industry is about disabling people who are already vulnerable. Many people who go on meds end up on having to go on disability because their brains become impaired over time. It's not that psychiatry has to be like this but most medical care now has nothing to do with making people better, healthier, prevention. It's more like a slow kill these days. I have been on many different meds over my lifetime and none of it helped. Adderall destroyed my life especially.

That seems like an excellent plan. I hope you can make it a reality.

Pyschologists don't care about you, the whole pharmaceutical companies only want to take advantage of you and make a profit. That is the truth... If I were you I would throw those pills away or just stack them up and use them to od. Where is the scientific proof that pills will help you get rid of depression, the last time I checked depression is a human emotion not a "chemical imbalance".

Sadly my mother forces me to take my medication since she is paying for my insurance and all + I live with her

Lmao funny enough I nickname myself as LilAddy because I use to overdose a lot on adderall. Sold it to other girls so I was known as "Adderall (Insert my real name here)"

My mom is concerned but despite telling her I literally don't feel anything when taking my meds even when I'm consistent she got pissy with me. And I can't tell her about my DID that ends up having the meds not working at all anyways cause hahaha that dumb bitch is still in denial about us...........

Also this chick's psychiatrist is a fuckin cunt she can burn in hell before she prescribes us more chemical lobotomies........
