I rode the train by myself, talked to the operators, navigated through the city, bought food (talked to the waitress), and I also talked to the lady at the museum lobby. This was very stressful for me, but I feel accomplished now that I am back home.

The main reason that I wanted to go was to see the JMW Turner painting, as he is my favorite painter. The brush strokes in person gave his typical dramatic marine landscapes this impressive and awesome weight. I stared at it for a very long time. There were other nice paintings as well, I posted some of them, but there were a lot of monets and many beautiful sculptures. I wish I had stayed longer, being around beauty is good for me.

I don't like how difficult it is for me to do these things, though. It feels suffocating. Do any users have advice on this? PXL 20260109 190138213 PXL 20260109 184810441MP PXL 20260109 185754482

You are VERY brave and the paintings you posted are incredible. I'll definitely check out every painting he ever did.
I have no advice but I wanted to offer some positive reinforcement, I know how hard it is as I struggle the same to the point where I won't even do these things with my partner. Something as simple as asking for direction induces a panic I can't get out of most of the time. Unless I'm hypomanic.

Hihi, I am proud of you as I understand how stressful and scary these things can be. You picked beautiful paintings. There's some art apps you might like for a daily dose of (albeit virtual) beauty. Wishing you well 💙

I LOVE art and art museums, and you should be so VERY proud of yourself in not only getting out and about but enjoying such lovely artwork

Doing things by oneself is always tough but you are so much tougher AND intelligent.

I have gone to various art museums around the U.S., and it is always tough for me to be there alone, however the joy of all the wonderful pieces truly off sets the anxiety of being there.

Also, a huge THANK YOU for sharing the beautiful paintings.

That aspect alone shows how thoughtful, kind and intelligent you are, as you think of others, just so darn wonderful, like you!

I have gone to so many museums by now that the anxiety of going by myself is very diminished. Keep up the great work and keep going out and hopefully it will get easier as time goes by.

You have great taste with a whole world of art for you to explore.

Just LOVE the paintings, REALLY DO!!!!!!!

Thank you and have a great weekend filled with hugs and love.

Walter

It's great that you did this and got something from it- even though it was difficult.

As for advice- I'm guessing exposure therapy may help- so- try to do it regularly. If it's people/ crowds that make the experience difficult- maybe research into times these places are quieter. Also- maybe don't expect too much of yourself. Some days, it may feel more unpleasant rather than rewarding. It's likely all part of the course.

I love Art though. Of all types. It's been a while since I visited exhibitions. Again though, my experiences varied. Some times were better than others.

You have a keen eye! A major part of impressionism was capturing everyday, 'slice of life' beauty and conveying movement, mostly through visible brush strokes. This leads to the paintings having a pleasant hazyness that almost feels nostalgic because of how it matches our perception of reality and our recollection of scenes from our own lives. I think ghibli movies also capture this.

You are probably right about exposure therapy. I actually don't mind crowds because you disappear into them very easily. It's interaction with people that I tend to dislike, but for this also I would probably benefit from exposure therapy.

I'm glad that so many of you liked them, and I appreciate all of the kind replies <3

I find it gets easier the more you do something which you fear. But amazing job, and it seemed it was worth it for a great day out. The paintings look beautiful too, I really like the second one!

Oh God I remember that Monet painting like it was yesterday, our art teacher in middle school had us choose from any 'Genre Art' painting to replicate and that's the one I picked! Sucked total ass at it but Impressionism was so fun to learn about - This just reminded me, I didn't replicate that one specifically but the other - without Claude and Madame Monet's ''veiled(?)''face. I don't think I can come up with any advice, as of the 23 years old me I don't feel qualified either.. Soo.. I'll just appreaciate the art and well - I wish we had museums here; I do have a question for you: do you reserve any thoughts towards Modernism and/or Futurism? they were my most passionate art forms and I never hear anybody talk about them - ! (also.. I'm sorry I've talked too much but there is one more thing I'd like to talk about, related to art - just, not now.) Anyways, thanks for going out and sharing the 'beauty' with us..!

That's awesome that you recreated it. I'm sure it looked better than anything I could produce :)
I really like modernism, but I haven't really read about it that much unfortunately. I really like Jackson Pollock paintings, and, although he is a little after the modernists I also like Kline a lot, especially this painting

I think you did great. would headphones help with the moments of suffocation maybe? Like taking a break when you feel its too much?

I went to the theatre yesterday, it's a small one that hosts emerging actors, I don't really feel that magic much anymore, but it felt nice to be back after years.
