Does the weather decide how you feel?

Some days when the weather is sunny and hot I'm really really happy, sometimes I'm the same old me thinking about suicide at least 5/6 times a day.

When it's raining I'm the same.

I'm wondering whether any of you guys let the weather decide your mood?

I'm a new member so here's a bit of background on myself, I'm a 25 year old Male from Liverpool UK, Huge LFC fan. I have an okay job but I've just got a new job which offers more money, more experience, more progression. I have a stunning girlfriend and a nice car. I dont really have anything to be depressed about.

I understand most of the above are quite material things but surely I shouldn't be feeling suicidal. My first suicidal experience came when I was 13 years old and I have no idea why. I just wanted to die and I have done ever since. It's not an obsession or anything like that but I struggle to see why I feel like this. Someone who has a half decent life like mine should be happy not depressed and looking for the easiest way out.

All opinions are welcome (I'm thick skinned)

If I was a LFC supporter, I would be suicidal as well

Its always cold and wet where I am, so I have a good reason to be miserable!

I am no head doc so wont take a punt at why you feel suicidal. A very good head doc I saw a few years back told me it was ok to feel suicidal and I should just allow the ideations to come when they wanted to. The thing is, you dont have to act on thoughts you have just because you have them. That made sense to me at a time when not much else did.

YES!

I have written about this in my diary. Back when I had depression all throughout my teens the weather would effect my mood so bad, I was never happy but the dark days with grey skies especially made me even more depressed and suicidal I guess that is also why I never have used sunglasses because when I would try and put them on on the sunny summer days it would make the day dark.

I unfortunately have apathy now so I don´t feel any emotions anymore and I even miss my depression because it made me feel alive.
Btw thanks for jogging my memory I had completely forgotten this topic but it was a big part of me so it was nice to remember it again

If you are interested I could try and look through my diary and post what I wrote.

It's rainy and cloudy today and I definitely feel moody and tired. Don't think it affects my suicidal thoughts though, since suicide ideation crosses my mind practically every 5 minutes.

Wet? Miserable? You've got to be from Manchester hahah :p

I understand you, I get that you dont have to take actions on first impulse but dont forget I'm 25 and my first thought was when I was 13, just starting to get sick of the feeling you know!

Additional info: I'm terrified of the doctors so I refuse to go no matter under what instances they are. Bit of a wuss me Haha!

I'd be interested only if you're comfortable sharing that information!

The one thing I've always kept thinking to myself on miserable days like this is.. no matter what the weather above the clouds is always a sunny day. Now that may contradict my original post but that's what I always think of when if feeling down ;)

Went for a very very long time without any attempts. I got my shit together, eventually, moved north, and ended up the same as you. I had all I wanted from life. Then 11 yrs ago I had chickenpox which put me in intensive care and left me brain damaged and disabled. 3 yrs ago I tried again, successfully I might add, but they managed to bring me back, so here I am. I gave my word I would do my best each and every day to stay alive and so far, I have managed to do just that.

I could have had all those things but life is like nah lad, everything I try ends up in failure. Pfft. The last time we won the league I was born just after it. Seems only fitting that I should die just before we win it again (maybe 2 depending on what the FA decides to do with city after recent events.
