i'm currently considering drowning myself in a bathtub. i'm aware people say drowning isn't a plaesant way to go out, but i lack many other options. if not drowning, perhaps the popular toaster in the bathtub? any info would be appreciated. thank you!

One user on here has talked about shallow water blackout (SWB) and apparently you can do it anywhere. People accidentally die this way.

I think hyperventilating until you pass out is supposed to do the trick. Another thing is to hyperventilate until you expel all of the carbon dioxide and then you can hold your breath until you pass out because the overwhelming urge to breathe is caused by a lack of carbon dioxide. Or if you could somehow take some drugs, kind of like Whitney Houston or Dolores O'Riordan.

My worry is that if you do the SWB and you get conscious while drowning that will be unpleasant.
But idk if that actually can happen.

.I managed to hyperventilate myself to passing out in my tub, however, I woke up splashing water and hitting my head on the side of the tub. I wasn't trying to CTB, just seeing if I could pass out, which apparently I can. A larger body of water is probably needed, unless you have a huge tub and loads of drugs to pass out from.

By the title I thought you were talking about water intoxication (death by drinking too much water) I wonder how unpleasant that will feel.

Shallow drowning is indeed legit, the key is managing to pass out, not being conscious while the currents drag you down and you start to breathe water, which is painful as all hell.

I believe there's a guide in the resources megathread.

Aren't electric devices made in a way that they turn off if submerged in water these days? Something like that

It's also about the bathtub and the pipes. They used to be made of copper and are now plastic. The type of outlets used in modern bathrooms also affect this.

However, it might be possible to get an extension cord ? Just having the toaster or electrical device in the tub alone won't be enough, make sure to touch the device where the metal parts are.

I wonder if the kite and key during a thunderstorm is a valid and possible way to die? I'm curious now.

I guess one can always insert some sort of metal object into a wall socket while laying down in the water-filled bathtub. It would take enormous amounts of courage, though.

Suicide by drowning never appealed to me personally. But I always wondered why more people are willing to set themselves on fire as opposed to sticking their head under water then inhale. If I had to choose between burning or drowning I think I'd choose the latter.

I think it's the outlets themselves actually. The ones that have the buttons on them will shut off automatically, and regulations require those outlets if they're near a water source. I'm guessing an extension cord plugged into a regular outlet would work, though removing the third prong would probably be a good idea.

do you think that only happened because your tub was too small? also did you try to drown or not? did you have any water in your lungs?

I didn't try to drown, no water in lungs, was practicing SWB to see if I could pass out, which I didn't think I could, but apparently I can. Tub is way too small. No water in lungs. Was just seeing if I could do it.
