I don't know if I would say that I'm in recovery right now, but I'm still here and breathing. If I had to describe my feelings I would say my existence is "on pause" until August (when I can make my final decision)

I agree, life has its ups and downs. I've made peace that while my life could very much improve in the next decade, there will be inevitable pain along the way.

So, I'm still here and giving it some more time before attempting. Right now I'm just taking it day by day.

While you are waiting, you might wish to undertake activities that engage you such as reading or hobbies. If time hangs too heavy it can become an influence on your decision which would be unfortunate in that this period of time would not be a fair representation of the life you expect.

One of the difficulties in making assessments about the future is that we often use criteria (such as expected pain or happiness) that are either inaccurate or disproportionate. One aspect that is often overlooked is transcendence. Things that seem negative now often decrease in significance over the years.

One additional thing you might want to try is to use the time you have to reach out and encourage others. Sometimes life can seem excessively gloomy if we have come to have an intense self-focus. Thinking of others or reaching out to others (even if it risks a negative response) can work to establish a more balanced perspective. In a way, we are helped ourselves when we try to help others.

I agree, sometimes the only way I ever feel relief is when I'm helping someone else. For a moment you forget about your problems and have something else to think about.

This is a really good way to describe waiting for CTB.

Do you have a list of anything you would like to experience before you CTB?

I am thinking about August 11th when my carer killed himself a year ago. Would be amazing to have the same date of death a year apart.
