It sounds like it would be really difficult to go through with. To me it sounds like a horrible way to go and I would rather the dying process be over quickly rather than taking a long time. For those reasons I haven't really considered it much, but I guess that it's always an option to ctb if there are no other suitable methods as I do believe that many people have died that way.

Thank you. I read that dehydration has an analgesic effect and that this method is rather peaceful, but then on the other hand, i see people with your opinion. I'm so torn. I have SN but I'm really scared of it failing. At least I will know dehydration will kill me 100%.

I think it is difficult but not uncommon in a medical se tting. For example, a terminally ill patients may opt to reject any life sustaining intervention.

The people that VSED in a hospice are sick and usually already close to death. The doctor usually gives them painkillers, benzos, sleeping pills to make it more peaceful for them, and they are closely monitored,. Outside of a medical setting VSED wouldn't be as peaceful. Starving to death is one of the worst ways to die. If someone is young and healthy, it would take them a lot longer to die and wouldn't be as peaceful without all the drugs they would give you in the hospice. Its not necessarily guaranteed to be successful or without risks if you fail. If you were unable to continue it to the end, you could end up with organ damage if you starved yourself for an extended period of time and survived. I think someone would need a will of steel to be able to voluntarily starve themselves and not give in at some point and eat something especially if they are healthy.

as someone that "attempted" this as a method when i was 14-16 and am currently an atypical anorexic that will go several days without eating (and currently is having health complications), i dont advise this method. the hunger pains suck, and staying away from food is difficult (i typically look in the cupboards even though i have zero interest in food and dont even grab anything)

Aiming to be the one with the will of steal, I'll update on how it goes. Will be starting this if I am not able to acquire SN in the next 2 weeks.

Towards the end..10 or so days if you start healthy, you will be bed-ridden. Even without fluids you will still be urinating and it will be thick and stinky. So may want to prepare your bed.
I went two weeks without eating. Not eating is easier than not drinking. All the things you read about VSED being a peaceful analgesic etc is referring to people with large amounts of benzos and morphine.
I truly wish this was a good method but it isn't. Which is why I'm working on SN.

Have you actually tried VSED?

I've attempted this a couple times. The longest was I believe 8 days. According to what I've read the average person dies within ten days - I wasn't near death. It's hard to not drink for that long. A lot depends on weight, health, age, someone younger will last longer than an older person. If you live in a desert climate it will be quicker.
