What is being dead? What is it like as soon as you die? Would it make it easier to cbt if we knew? There are so many opinions on this matter. But just in case I'm wrong I'm going to be praying to Jesus after I take my method . Forgiveness like never before, even if it's premeditated

Personally, I don't believe in an afterlife...just nothingness. But that's just an opinion. I'm not necessarily 100% convinced.

My personal belief is that once someone has accepted Jesus as their savior, when they die they will go to Heaven.

Why would Jesus immediatly forgive you for taking your own life?
What if i go and shoot 5 random people on the street and after i'm done i throw myself to the ground crying and begging for forgiveness, does that get me immediatly forgiven too?
I'm mean no offense, but i can't understand why religious people think that being "forgiven" by someone who is supposed to be the master of the universe should be as simple and straightforward as asking someone to lend me a lighter to light a cigar.
I don't believe in the after life though.
And i think that once you get unconscious that's it, you ain't coming back.

I believe afterlife ideas and thoughts came from the hope and the need to feel finally peaceful.

I believe there's nothing after this. I also believe it would make the choice of suicide so much easier to make if we knew what was after this life, If there is anything after this life.

When our Lord was crucified, he found himself alongside other two men, criminals, who had commited terrible sins throughout their lives, and who had never had any faith. And in there, in that moment, as they saw our Messiah and appreciated His authority as our Savior, they repented for their sins... and then and there, with their last breath, they were forgiven, and rose to the Heavens.
As for desiring a quicker end to a life of suffering... Our Lord, after 3 days of suffering on the cross, begged for the release of death. And in that moment, a roman solider, Longinus, took pitty of him, and stabbed him with his spear. This man, who had just murdered no other than our Lord, was not only not punished with damnation, but instead rose to the Heavens to become a Saint.

But can that episode with the two crucified criminals be considered a general rule?
Nowadays, as far as i'm concerned, no one is crucified, and we get to make our decisions and commit our sins without such vigorous punishment, more often that not we don't get any punishment at all.
Couldn't it be that Jesus was more merciful to these criminals because he sympathized with them for being in the same situation as him?

If the people from these so called "near death experiences" weren't truly dead yet how come they got to contact with the "heavens"?

How about "eternal recurrence of the same"? I think this philosophical idea deserves a separate thread... Basically this life has been and will be repeating etenally. Some ppl believe this idea drove Nietzsche mad eventually...

Nde reports from suicide tends to be differents from other ways of dying. It s difficult to make a path between true experiences reports and some kind of New age dogma.

Most of the spiritual texts i ve read about this matter basically Say that you can t escape like that. By analogue they say if you go to sleep with a problem to solve you ll wake yo with the same situation the next evening. Sweet...

It's definitely just... not being alive, which is so liberating. A permanent end to consciousness and experience. The destruction of the viewer.

I don't think this is what the idea of eternal recurrence is about; it is more a thought experiment, or a mode of existence – living as if your life were to repeat for eternity and then still accepting it. It challenges you to reinterpret your life in a way you can affirm it, to give it a tragic sense – if that makes any sense whatsoever.

Nothingness sounds so cold.
I prefer to call it what it is:

We all literally came from nothingness. If there is nothingness after death what makes it so sure you could not come back from nothingness again?

Afterlife subject always amuses me, so... how about this: your afterlife experience is tailor made or custom built/created to your own personal's beliefs/preferences, or whatever your bullsh!t religion's teachings taught you from early childhood?

Let's say you belief in eternal sleep/nothingness? There you get what you wanted!

Let's say you belief you'll praise that God/source/deity/beings/consciousness for Googol years, even way much... much... much... trillion years after our "beloved" earth got swollen by the red GIANTS?! There you get what you wanted!

Let's say you belief in Genuine afterlife, which our spirits continues to grow (although a lil' bit slower than this seemingly "very" hard "school" of life) ... There you get what you wanted!

Side note: please pardon this "sh!t" drunk post again... OP?!

death is like taking a nice long nap where you have no dreams and don't wake up. or at least i think it is. if it's anything else i'll be taken by surprise to say the least.

There are so many countless opinions, because no one knows. Only the dead can tell us.
So go with what feels best for you.
