i assume there have been suicidal engineers who could easily rig a set up where they set up a 12-gauge shotgun directly aimed at their head in bed while they sleep. it would require them to sleep with their head pinned in place, which I imagine shouldn't be too difficult. they can take a couple of months getting used to sleeping with the gun pointed at their immobilized head. (even more advanced engineers wouldn't need this, they could just set up sensors on their head to build a 3D model to approximate their brainstem location. and attach the gun to a robot arm that will aim for the brainstem)
when they feel they're finally at a point where they can exit existence, they activate the contraption: after a randomized number of nights, the shotgun will fire. so they don't know exactly when they'll die, to decrease the SI. every morning they wake up will simply be a surprise present.
obviously this is an inaccessible method to majority of people who want to die. but if i had the resources and know-how, this is how i would do it.
