Anyone else considering suicide by train, specifically freight trains in North America?

Im considering just laying down on the tracks in an isolated area during night time, making sure my ID is on me in case I become unrecognizable.

The rate of success for this method is almost as high as firearms, so it is pretty reliable.

It's a shitty, selfish, unethical method, IMO. You're going to traumatize the engineer, if not anyone else who happens to be in the area. You could cause them lifelong trauma and even make them kill themselves.

I have tried to ctb with a train. I stood in front of it instead of laying down (hence why I am still here) but trains have very bright lights on it and I feel like they would see something obstructing the rail and would slow down. I don't know if they would do it in time but it just seems like something that could possibly happen.

Editing to add it was a freight train in the pnw

What happened exactly? did you just get off the tracks in time?

A freight train depending on speed needs miles to slow down. So not a factor if you just don't give them the time.

No, I actually got hit and flew a couple feet away. I ended up in the hospital for a few months (and obviously psych ward after) I broke my arm, I broke my hip, I broke my leg and I fractured my spine. I now have a titanium rod in my leg and my arm. I just feel like I would've been more successful if I was horizontal instead of vertical.

Have you ever described this experience in detail somewhere? Sorry but it seems a bit hard to believe

That is quite a list. Do you have physical issues now? I can't believe you survived that. This is everyone's fear.

Wow im sorry for having doubted it! Did you get knocked off the tracks? Or did you get knocked backwards and had the train go over you? And how fast do you think the train was moving?

I'm in north america and indeed when I see a freight train my first thought is laying under the wheels. However I wouldn't lay on the tracks I have always planned to quickly place my neck under one of the cars before the back wheels pass rather than the front of the train. Sorry you feel this way
