Torniquet method, how to prevent physical choking?

Might ctb tonight, or soon atleast, and looking into methods to figure out witch one to go for. I tried the torniquet method before but would always air choke before I could get the blood choke. How do I prevent this and what clothes works the best for this? Have no rope rn so have to use clothes. Thanks in advance for any advice :)
