Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

So bear with me now, I know that most of you, or at least for me, hate it when people constantly try and dissuade you from choosing to take your own life especially when you've already exercised all options and have heard just about every argument as to why you should keep on living. And although these kind of people for the most part have good intentions, they're ignorant to the harsh reality that some of us face on a day to day basis.

This thread isn't about convincing you otherwise not to CTB. This thread is about giving you a sure hope, not necessarily to keep on living in this life (although that's preferable), but to make sure you have hope for a good future in the next life. Ultimately I want to share with you something that has personally given me peace of mind even despite myself wanting nothing more then to CTB.

If I were to ask you, "If you were to die today, God forbid, do you know for sure that you would go to Heaven?" I would venture to guess that most of you wouldn't know and even some of you would say that "God isn't real" or that "Heaven doesn't exist" depending on your beliefs. Well I've got some good news for anyone that is willing to hear because the Bible says that:

You Can Be 100% Sure that You Are Going To Heaven.

1 John 5:13 "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
Now I know what you guys might be thinking, if suicide is a sin so how can that be possible? Well the bible teaches that once you're saved, YOU ARE ALWAYS SAVED! So in other words there is nothing that you can do to lose your salvation once you have believed in the gospel, which is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In fact *Biblical* Christianity is the only religion that teaches that salvation is a GIFT and not a reward. All other religions under the sun, even including some denominations within mainstream Christianity) all falsely teach the popular concept that one must work for their salvation by doing good deeds, keeping the commandments, being a good person etc and as a result of that you end up being rewarded with salvation based on your performance.

Whereas Biblical Christianity is unique and distinct in that it teaches that salvation is a free gift and that it cannot be earned by any amount of good works that you do in your life. Christianity is also the only religion that offers a Savior, whereas other religions teach you to essentially save yourself.

Now I don't want to make this a long read but I just wanted to introduce this seemingly foreign concept to some of you who may have never heard this kind of thing before and so if anyone is intrigued by this idea and wants to hear more on this subject, feel free to PM me and I can share with you some more resources that go more in-depth. I have also attached a short little video if you have the time to watch it to understand a little bit more.

God bless you guys and Happy Thanksgiving from Canada!

That's all fine and dandy, if a heaven actually existed. Other than that, it's nothing more than a fairy tale.

I'm sorry but I don't buy this. I grew up deep in Christianity - salvation is supposed to be a 'gift' but you have to complete certain actions to receive this gift. 'Faith without works is dead' and all that jazz. (James chapter 2, if you really want to get biblical with your Christianity). People reel you in with promises of unconditional love, salvation and acceptance, then as soon as you commit it becomes all 'don't swear, no sex before marriage, you should be giving money to the church and if you're not doing these things it's a sign that your heart is not in the right place and actually maybe you were never saved in the first place'.

But also, what are you being saved from and saved for? The salvation of the Bible is only the solution to the problem that the Bible has created itself (the notion of original sin and Hell). I don't know if I want to be stuck in a time loop brainwashed into praising God for eternity, because that seems what the Biblical heaven is at its core. Returning my body to nature and letting my soul dissolve into the universe, so to speak, to me sounds more peaceful.

I don't want to rain on your parade - if this is giving you peace amidst the pain then all power to you. I know there are many different manifestations of Christianity so maybe the church I grew up in holds different beliefs to yours. But I do find what you've written to be reductive.

Not sure where you're getting the idea I'm questioning what I said, I truly believe that if I were to CTB today that I would go to Heaven. Not because I'm a good person or because I'm holier than thou but because God promised in the Bible that you can have full assurance of your salvation and that you cannot lose it.

The only reason why I'm hesitant to CTB is one because of SI and secondly because I just don't don't want to let God down and give up and be ashamed when I see him.

Mainstream Christianity teaches a false works based gospel that is not from the Bible. Many people take passages like James 2 out of context to propagate this lie. The only thing one must do in order to be saved is solely trust in the finished work of Christ on the cross. That is the only condition required for salvation and anything more or less then that is a false gospel. If you ever wanted to talk you could always PM me, I would love to have this conversation with you.

Thanks for the reply and the offer to talk, but I've walked away from Christianity now and am finding my own path. But I'm really glad you can find comfort in that teaching and I wish you all the best.

This first bold part as the biggest indicator of self doubt…
Now I know what you guys might be thinking,
If you have to say this or every step of the way, you predict someone will counter you…isn't it undermining the message you supposedly believe in yourself? Like if you truly believed in it…you wouldn't even contemplate the opposition because you'd have all the facts and evidence. It would be indisputable on it's own without the need for a human being to defend it…right?

The questioning of it "I know what you're thinking" or "bear with me…" it sews doubt into your own arguement.

I do not believe in religion personally. There is no evidence that such a thing called heaven exists, it is a fictional concept. I believe we are here in the first place because of evolution. I just want my eternal nothingness.

Yeah the Bible says some wonderful-sounding things but also a lot of very fucked-up stuff...
Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

The reason why I used that language is because from my experience I know what peoples counter arguments are going to be and I'm attempting to give an answer to avoid straw man arguments and having to explain myself further in the comments section. Believe me I have my salvation 100% settled in my mind.

why you can't checkmate a christian because they're all pawn and their king doesn't exist, we're all going to heaven no chance in hell, the closest you've ever get to heaven is this hellhole or perhaps never existing at all, earth man what a shithole, self doesn't even exist once your gone that it forever unless somehow get reincarnated into anyone of these living machines in the universe, I believe the common denominator of the universe is not harmony, but chaos, hostility, and murder, crazy people crazy people everywhere.

Ah yes, the problem of evil (and/or perhaps the problem of poor design). One/two of many logical inconsistencies with the notion of an omnipotent creator.
