How was the experience? Peaceful? Confusion? I'd love to know what to anticipate.

Well... you could ask them via radio on AM. Especially if you have an emotional connection to one who passed on, you can focus on them and with a little persistence you can receive messages. Not guaranteed and i think if it is relevant for your life, but it's possible.
A sole recorder without radio also works.
Or a black mirror, or the technique of the psychomanteum.
But often it is like waking up from a dream and realizing that this life only was a small part of you.
The light in a tunnel is the perception of the change of dimensions.
The flashing of the life in front of you is the life review where you can experience the consequences of your actions from the perspective of others.
Some are indeed confused and do not realize that they are dead/have transitioned. You will get help either from spirit guides or angels.
After that you are free to do whatever you want.
Check my post on this if you want to get to the sources of information:

Alright yeah I mean almost dead. NDE's. My cognitive abilities aren't at their highest. Give me a break. You know how some people say "I was dead for 30 seconds".

Many claims.. Some say they saw a light and everything felt peaceful while others say there was absolutely nothing.

I predict death to be like being under anesthesia. Simply nothingness.

i almost died once 7 years ago when i overdosed my pills. i dont remember a thing but emptiness and nothingness of darkness. not in a scary place of darkness it's more of a peaceful, calming experience really. it didn't last long tho i woke up in hospital two days prior. most of my nights pass thinking about that state i was in. the feeling of non existence. because it wasn't hurtful to get there, there is a huge part of me still wants to have that and it's growing. each year it became stronger and right now i'm feeling more than just ready to have it. waiting for the weak part of me to lose the fight on keeping me alive.

I almost died under anesthesia 13 years ago. It was so peaceful and two deceased family members were there - one I had never met. I remember being surprised at how they looked after they crossed over. They were beautiful. I was talking with them, then it went black. The next thing I knew, I was in recovery with everyone talking about how I gave them a scare.
I had been looking forward to going back there after CTBing, but now I'm not sure it exists. Reading posts on SS has me worried there's nothing after this. I just don't know how to explain meeting a deceased relative I've never met on this side.

You were under anesthesia for couple of hours. And I am going to assume you died for few seconds?! So your encounter with your relatives was most likely a dream.

I "died" for more than a few seconds. I've always held onto the belief they were there. I'm hoping there is more than nothing after this.

Deceased family members or nothingness, I'm happy either way as long as it's peaceful. I just want some peace and serenity and quiet. I don't care how I get it at this point.

Of course, I would like to see my husband again, but if that's not meant to be and all I have is quiet peaceful nothingness, it's still better than here.

you might want to smoke some weed before reading this shit.

I've been thinking about this, i had surgery 3 years ago, the surgery took 3 hours and i woke up screaming apparently, i remember none of that.
i just remember counting to 10 and then passing out. those 3 hours effectively dissapeared because i was unconscious and I imagine death works the same way.
the moment you die the entire universe dissapears, those billions of years no longer exist because you have no consciousness to experience it, just like when we were born, the universe started existing in that moment for us.
at some point this earth will be swallowed by the sun, then in 5 billion years the sun will die and in many quadrillion years the universe will die by entropy, or maybe some other thing that we don't even know of will occur. all of it will happen instantly the moment we die.

I'm still hoping for an afterlife but when we look at it objectively and with science the reality is kind of scary and peaceful in a way, we dissapear and everything else also dissapears because we can't experience it no more. almost as if nothing really matters and life is just forcing elements to be conscious while waiting for the inevitable. but who knows, maybe the matter that we are made of will become life and you'll wake up once again, over and over until the universe truly dies out.

i should probably stop getting so high every night.

They say we are all bundles of energy and energy doesn't die, it just changes form. I wonder what happens to that energy when you die?

@Fragile

Thank you for sharing experience. I think so too, death is the end, nothingness, exactly just like when you get put under.
As much as I wish there is an afterlife so I can see my dead todder on the other side, but I know there won't be. And when I plunge 1,000 feet to my death or blast a shotgun blow my brain out, my son won't appear in soul/spirit whatever to see me one last time.

Anyways, regarding energy, found this, and I believe in these people answer.

[[ You're displaying a lack of understanding of energy at even a basic level. When we die the energy in our body is preserved. It can be transferred to the environment through decomposition and heat, or to animals that may eat our flesh, etc. No magic is necessary.

Does your argument mean that there is an afterlife for all animals that need to transfer their energy after death, or that energy was magically created when a new person is born? Those are rhetorical.

When you die, that's the end of the road. You are either tossed in a whole and will eventually be eaten by worms, or you are creamated. Dead = dead, no fantacy world after that.

One thing you will notice about life and existence through out the universe is that EVERYTHING get's recycled. We will have no knowledge of this existence or others as our atoms are redistributed about the ecology, the environment, the solar system, etc.. We are truly just children of the Sun and not The Son. ]]

Who knows, i like to think of energy as the afterlife, just moving around the universe indefinitely and joining the energy left behing by others, maybe there is conciousness to it. anything is possible really, we can only perceive so little with our senses, there are so many undiscovered things in the universe that anything is inside the realm of possiblity.

When I was a kid, around 9, I didn't know how to swim. I had a gym class in a school pool. One gym teacher yelled at me to jump in the pool. I started splashing about but sinking. The last thing I saw/heard was her blurry face/voice (gym teacher's) above me yelling, "Peddle, like you're on a bike." I woke up hours later in a hospital ER where they told my mother they'd lost my pulse and I hadn't responded to CPR. Maybe I forgot what it felt like, but like someone above said, I remember only panic, not pain. I don't remember any physical pain, even though I've read drowning can be painful. But I've also read the mind can be very effective at blocking out the details of trauma. So maybe a lot of us in these positions forget the salient details...
