I'm very much leaning toward using the co method to ctb soon.

I will be utilizing my mid-size suv, which is 150 cubic ft, or about 4 cubic meters.

I plan to purchase 2-17" portable grills, and I am hoping each grill will hold roughly 3-4 lbs of charcoal (1.3-1.8 kg each). I may have to settle for 2-14" ones if I cannot find the 17" ones, which would still hopefully hold 2-3 lbs of charcoal (around 1kg each)I will also purchase 2 chimey starters, fire starting cubes and bring along some newspaper in case it is needed.

I've never used charcoal before, so forgive me if i am over explaining the process. I will place each chimney starter on the lower grill (with as much charcoal as will fit in the grill afterwards), then light using the fire starting cubes. After about half an hour, or when there is no more flame, I will dump both chimneys into their respective grills and carefully place in the back of my car. I will place each grill in a metal tray with water. Then, i will get into my car having already sealed vents with duct tape. It's a relatively new car so i am not as concerned about doors and windows (maybe i should be?).

my first concern is that when i watched videos on how to use a chimney starter, most are dumping when there is still flame and sparks going everywhere. Is this because they're using the charcoal for grilling, rather than for CTB? or should I expect there to be sparks when dumping my charcoal?

If I'm only able to aquire the 14" grills, I should still have the ability to us at least 4 lbs (1.8 kg) charcoal, if not more. Will this be enough?

Lastly, should I worry about the heat damaging the roof of the car? I could theoretically place the grills on the floor in the back seat (there should be enough room, as I can move the captains seats back), which would increase the distance from the roof of the car.

Please let me know if there is anything I've forgotten about or missed.
