Discussion Thoughts on ctb on New Year’s Day

I'm not saying I'll ctb on New Year's Day. But I thought about dates I could do it. New Year's Eve might be a good day depending on a few things. New Year's Day would be a good day. The problem with New Year's Eve is I imagine the hotel rooms will be expensive. I am going to have to do this on "impulse" in order to overcome the survival instinct. What are your thoughts? Is it a dick move? Or is it okay?

The hotel rooms would be expensive, but if say you get a room off a freeway outside of town, that'll be good. Also lots of drunk people in those hotels so you won't have peace of mind or it might drive you over the edge. Why do you think it might be a dick move? And what could stop you from CTB on that day?

Because on that day most people are celebrating and having a good time. Me personally, I don't want to ruin a party. I don't want to be a dick.

I personally wouldn't ctb on a holiday—am choosing a totally neutral day.

Your birthdays are good because then loved ones are only reminded once per year but no way can i wait until Sept.

I'm going New Year's Eve/Day. At this point, I frankly don't give a fuck who's party or celebration I'm fucking up. It'll be days or weeks before I'm found anyway.

I would love to to not see in another year. If I were to go before this year it would probably be between 24th-30th Dec inclusive. Theres no pint of going through the pain of the actual New Year itself when you can CTB just before it.

NYE itself can be difficult as others have mentioned. 30th Dec is the last neutral day of the year.

It might not be nice considering people (for whatever reason) consider it an important holiday. But I mean if someone wants to ctb on New Years, go ahead. It really isn't that special of a day.

I was trying to go before Christmas but I know it'd ruin my family's Holiday and I love them but now it looks like I may have to wait for n which could take longer ugh so maybe it will be new years. If I chicken out on sn or I dont get my amitriptyline it may actually be new years. I tried to CBT on thanksgiving luckily no one but my so knows. So holidays aren't really that important just another day I guess.

I'm with some of the other people here. I've still got a lot of journaling to do before I'm ready, but I had thought about ctb as soon as this semester ends, but that would mean right in the middle of the holiday season back home and I don't want my daughter to forever have to associate the holidays with her father's death. So when I am ready, I'll try to choose a time, place and method that will limit the impact on my daughter. Good luck brother.

I don't normally choose a date based on holiday or symbolism alone because I may/may not be ready when that date comes. I'm more of a time and event trigger based person, so it would be a combination of a date (or approximate date even) and catalyst (triggering event that sends me over the edge).

i'm planning to do the same in an hotel room and the 20th december will be my birthday so i'm undecided about what day should i choose

I think the date isn't important. Honestly, I am waiting for a courage. If i can overcome the survival instinct, i will not waiting more.
