Police are an interesting example. Many police abuse their authority and many do not- many police go above and beyond the call of duty to help others. like any large group of people some are good and some are bad. Statistically police officers have a higher suicide rate than any other profession- this is probably due to a combination of job stress and the easy availability of firearms. Three times as many police officers die by suicide as die in the line of duty. Many police officers give their lives to protect others and some police officers have turned out to be serial killers or serial rapists. It's a whole spectrum- some are amazing people and some are horrible. I've seen stories of very caring police officers adopting children who were rescued from extremely abusive situations. So when people make comments against all police officers this is disappointing. Following are links to two stories of police officers adopting kids they helped to rescue:
