• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Social interaction is vulnerable, it contains multiplicities of changing, delicate and often contradictory factors. It tends to thrive in consenting and free play. Yet our social structure is woven with contradictions that are not inherent to the nature of social engagement, and are broadly harmful.

Under the current paradigm, individuals do not engage socially out of consent and from mutual interest, but out of necessity from a place of isolation. Engaging in social interactions and negotiations regardless of a persons interests or willingness remains a well maintained requirement of society and civilization as a whole. Just ask any person working a customer service job.

This social parasitism draws power from coercion, expectation and ignorance. It crafts a system in which people can be frequently social with others while remaining in essential isolation. This is to the benefit of those who wish to maintain power, creating individuals and communities that can work efficiently together while precluding broader forms of intimacy and resistance.

How much more so in an age of corporate run social media platforms, where an individual can literally engage with thousands of persons while remaining physically and mentally isolated while their 'data' (engagement in a new social form) is being stolen and commodified on a moment to moment basis.

Being alive remains a terrifying experience.
