This thread may already preach to the SaSu choir, but over the recent years, I've arrived at a conclusion throughout interactions with people as well as research on the Internet (forum interactions and how people online treat the suicidal and such). I've noticed a predictable pattern that most pro-lifers and anti-choicers tend to follow when interacting with suspected suicidal people or even pro-choicers. They essentially treat all of them the same, instead of differentiating between those who are non-impulsive and carefully thought through their plan, method, and execution versus those who are impulsive. So this thread will explain and go into detail of what I mean by their "playbook" as well as their overall structure and how it plays out.

What do I mean by their playbook? The pro-lifers' playbook is how a pro-lifer interacts with various people, especially those who they have knowledge or suspicion of being suicidal or a potential threat to themselves or others (mainly the former). Furthermore, their both their direct and indirect actions that cause one to suffer while also conspiring to cut off any exit (aka reliable ways to CTB as well as trying to prevent said person who is suffering from being able to exit sentience). So here is a general process that pro-lifers' use as part of their playbook in a given situation/interaction between the pro-lifer and the pro-choicer.

Situation where one is suffering → Pro-lifer offers empty words, false hope, and/or doing nothing that would help said person → Scouting for signs of would be CTB → thwarting or conspiring to thwart CTB plans → leaving the person to suffer without fixing the cause or allowing the person suffering to escape.

This kind of pattern is widely observed, almost cookie-cutter like process in most, general interactions with most pro-lifers and while some situations are different, they generally follow this pattern more or less.

Example interaction:
Here is an example, with characters C and A, where C is the person suffering and wanting out while A is a pro-lifer who is against pro-choice and wanting to impose their sanctity of life values onto everyone else. C is suffering from whatever problem that causes C to want to CTB (it can be any reason, multiple reasons or what not), then A, perhaps is an acquaintance or someone who knows C, but not necessarily close, just another person in this pro-life society. A offers false hope to C, and at the same is trying to scope out any signs that C may try to CTB or would be and try to thwart it. Once A finds out that C may be attempting to CTB, A does whatever they could to try and foil C's plan to escape suffering all the while offering nothing of value that would solve the cause for C to want to CTB.

While this example is vague, it highlights the general process of what the pro-lifer does and while every situation may have some nuance to them, the bottom line is that pro-lifers often try to do NOTHING (or that they are incapable of) besides false, empty promises and empty hollow platitudes (words), while simultaneously trying to scope out and probe any signs or hints of CTB, and finally intervening to prevent CTB without solving the cause of CTB. This not only fails to improve the person who is suffering situation, but even makes it worse as they are stuck in their predicament with no way out, no solution to make their predicament more manageable or less torturous, but also no way out (no reliable means or foiled plan to CTB).

Perhaps it is even by design that these despicable people knowing that they would conspire to do anything to try to foil the pro-choicer/suffering individual from leaving. This would entail scoping, profiling, looking for signs (of potential CTB), and encroachment of privacy as long as they can ensure (or make it as difficult as possible) that the person suffering would either be likely to fail and suffer even more (by limitation of peaceful and reliable methods) or not only not being able to make sentience tolerable (let alone enjoyable) for the sufferer.

In conclusion, pro-lifers and (by extension) anti-choicers are only looking out for themselves, validating their own egos, upholding the status quo, and of course meddling as well as being moral busybodies, all for the sake of them. There is no better evidence of this than how most people react to those who have CTB'd, especially if the person is a nobody (not family, best friend, or someone they know really well, but either a stranger or even distant acquaintance). It is merely nothing more than a virtuous signal, and last but not least, they make it all about themselves (how they feel, how they are impacted or affected, and how the ones who have successfully CTB'd inconvenienced them, etc.). With all that in mind, this thread basically exposes the tactics and despicable actions that pro-lifers take just to fulfill their interests, even at the cost of the person that they believe to be "helping".

My experience with the VA tells me that they are getting away from that all-or-nothing approach. It used to be that if you even mentioned the 'S' word they went berserk. I told my shrink one time that there were a number of us who would never use that word again at the VA because of how they reacted. Now they're better about differentiating between SI and someone actively making plans. Every time you talk to one of them now they say right in the beginning that if they think you're in imminent danger they'll call someone but if you're not they won't.

There is still a risk opening up because of the problem of "if they believe (not necessarily whether it is substantiated or not, they just have to be reasonable belief) that one is likely to act or are actively planning/taking steps to CTB (even if they haven't)" then they will proactively act. Yes, it's true that it doesn't always happen with every single professional or interaction, but as long as that risk is present and the impact of that is real, then every interaction is a gamble. I even wrote my megathread to explain it as well as other threads about MHPs, VAs, and similar people (mandated reporters).

In the end, while personally I wouldn't because I plan to CTB in the future and wouldn't risk even having ANY potential chance of getting my plans foiled or ruined, but I still hold my stance with anyone who does seek to open up to any MHP or interact with them, which is: Open up at one's own risk and discretion, and every interaction there is always a risk.

too true~ :( It's so annoying! >_< I know someone who works for the sewer slide hotline and had to take sewer slide training myself, and it's just so ugh~ :( They don't really care about fixing your issues that make you want to sewer slide at all~ >:( For people who have to report it, it's always like~ identify any signs of methods and plans, talk to them about it, and push it onto someone else~ then, for that other person, it's make sure those signs are there and determine if one can defuse or create a safety plan or whatever~ It's never~ "we should genuinely help this person". It's always: "keep them alive. keep them alive. keep them alive. :/" Talking is nice ig, but in these situations, the other person will always turn on you~ Especially since they're looking for key words and don't really care about you at all! :(
ofc, at the end, it's either safety plan time or getting sent to the hospital... I've heard people talk about the hospital route before, and it's just so ugh~ :( They don't know how bad and useless it is either... No one cares for others~ just wanting to keep them alive for the sake of that~ >_<

Great described, dude! Another addition to the piggy bank of the fact that people are ordinary animals who self-proclaimed themselves "homo" "sapiens" just because no one will talk badly about themselves, but in fact the name "monkey without hair" would suit him. All our (pseudo)morality with (pseudo) humanism, this is still ephemeral and moreover, in its essence, very utilitarian bullshits, and everything actually happens to people just like in a wild pack, no one cares about anyone, competition for access to resources and the reproductive process, there is terribly wasteful natural selection with his particularly disgusting derivative brother - sexual selection.

And if in ancient times, if you were born weak, ugly, you could have been thrown off a cliff by your ancestors, as in Sparta, or you could completely legitimately be murdered by your father, as in the Roman Empire. Now with the advent of pseudo-humanism, any even the most non-viable organism will be brought back to life.
And this is considered to be something good to this day, because no one cares about his subjective quality of life, but only the bare fact that it is alive, it moves, so it can still pay taxes or raise the rating of some educational institution with its presence, this is enough for everyone to be satisfied.
