I bet that most of us would be so much happier if we had a farm to call our own and routinely tend to it for money/food , and when the winter comes we would huddle up with our families through nights next to a chimney and share genuine human moments; sure it would be a lot of work but we would only be doing the work necessary for our survival and it would be diverse enough not to numb our brains to rot; I feel like then a lot of us would actually be motivated to continue living and contribute to our community; but this reality has most of us working to maximize the profit of faceless billionaires/corporations.

even if you were to want to start a business the competing is ruthless and any successful idea eventually gets absorbed into a bigger conglomerate that seeks to gain more money/control over the market ; ownership of "things" is constantly being siphoned to a smaller and smaller subsection of society with the bottom majority either becoming cogs to the machine or be thrown out to fend for themselves("and end up on SS to cry about it :ahhha:").

sorry for the rant, I've been playing stardew valley and I wanted really badly to reach through the screen and be part of that world haha.

I totally agree! I think people were a lot happier many many years ago even if they didn't have many things we do now.

Believe me, was I wrong in believing $$$ was the answer. Boy, how wrong I was...at the risk of sounding parental (i don't mean it to be that way!} hold onto your dreams, and, take it from me, don't compromise with comfort. Don't waste your life running from your fears that go with independence. I know that I am destined for ctb soon...am prepared to do full suspension. Not a day goes by when I don't think of that thick ceiling pipe and the noose knotted into a slip knot. Once you admit the possibility of suicide you are forever changed.

I agree including our basic connection with each other. You've seen the dystopias. High rise buildings to cram everyone in yet they're all so alone. It was a warning. Instead we looked at it and went yes!

I agree completely; I have travelled to many countries in my day and also own property in Belize—-developments everywhere. Look at the world's population alone—the stats are alarming—-the are now cruising 8 billion. I have read that an apocalypse will occur at 9 billion. Frightening, truly.

I truly believe social media has ruined life after life. It has put some much strain on my marriage. My wife is attractive, and the amount of attention she gets on her post makes me insecure about how I am as a husband. Felt like it's me against the internet every time she uploads. I don't want to be some control freak, and be like delete your social medias but I'd most definitely appreciate it.

My anxiety soars every time I see dudes commenting those heart emojis. I bend over backwards for my wife. We have our problems, I just feel the fact she entertains these guys on social media with her post after post makes me feel like she's seeking attention else where because I don't do it enough.

Yes, I always say that if you are working somewhere, you are making their dreams come true, but not yours. It is like putting a gravestone on your life before the death comes. I am not consent to live in such a system, this world is not for me.

Yeah, really wish love were simple enough for us to appreciate. It seems that not only has technology become complex, but love (and other important human values) have become so too. So much information is spread on the internet about these things and it becomes hard to tell what's true or not. It's hard because there exists no objective snopes.com that tackles it.

One things for sure.Back in the "simple"times before the boom of modern technology, the family unit was definitely more tight nit and stronger and divorce rates lower.I was blessed enough to have been brought up/grown up around a lot of the members of the "greatest generation",the old timers that came of age around world war two.My grandparents and their friends, who were "simple country folk" from Oklahoma/Arkansas.

They were some great people,so different from what I encounter in todays world. They are all gone now.I miss them, and the world is a shittier place without them.

Ehhh it's been one fucked roller coaster. Not sure how much longer we can keep going at the speed we go. Some days I think about if I were to leave, and just be on my own.
