• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

the government has blood on its hands by restricting peaceful suicide methods and forcing people to take more riskier methods

If someone is determined to end their life, restricting access to peaceful methods can push them toward more painful or traumatic alternatives. Many people argue that bodily autonomy should include the right to die on one's own terms, especially when suffering is unbearable.

At the same time, governments often justify these restrictions by claiming they want to prevent impulsive decisions and encourage people to seek help. But if someone has deeply thought it through and still wants out, forcing them into riskier methods seems cruel rather than protective. It's a tough, controversial issue that brings up ethical, legal, and societal debates.

The mental health system will have my blood on their hands. Not like it matters, they enjoy almost complete unaccountability.

I don't think it is the government going against the wishes of the majority of the population. (For a change.) I think the vast majority of the population also don't want their loved ones killing themselves!

If there really was overwhelming desire that we could all choose to die when we wanted, we'd be seeing more protests- surely? There'd be no opposition to this site whatsover. Parents wouldn't be grieving their children's deaths. They'd be holding 'congratulations' parties.

Surely, the reality of it is that this is largely still a pro-life world. The government is simply pandering to the wants of the majority when they are begging their MP's- please don't let my teenager buy SN off of the internet.

They are actually only denying the rights of a small percentage of people (still wrong in my view,) but they are pandering to the needs of the many.

Where I would argue most strongly is that they assume the small percentage of people who do want out are all mentally incompetent (which I disagree with) and that we can all be helped (which I also disagree with.)

I personally think that ideation should be treated like any illness. Try to ascertain the cause. Try to treat it. Also allow the patient to reject treatment though and be reasonable in considering that some people aren't responding to treatment. With assisted suicide being available after assessment.

It would need to be regulated though. Allowing 'healthy' teenagers unlimited access to peaceful suicide methods clearly wouldn't last. Surely there'd be full on riots if the government enabled that- don't you think?

I understand the frustration completely but I think practically speaking, it just isn't realistic to think governments even could implement this without a full uprising on their hands!
