the gap between the happy & the not so happy just got a bit wider

i noticed an advertisement for a news related website that restricts its content to only ' good news'. apparently people
are tired of hearing unpleasant news & this site only reports good news. Sounds like something arthur schopenhauer would
like ????? ........ anyway this could be really useful...
...so for example when the arctic circle glaciers all melt & the sea level rises about a 40 metres a day & you can see
the sewerage filled water coming up the stairs toward your apartment, you can just click on to the 'good news only'
website & hear inspiring uplifting stories like how a caring neighbour rescued a cat stuck up a tree & the whole
neighbourhood came round & donated food & blankets & cliff richard records....& everyone sang snoopy's xmas while
the local constable shared around a big bag of weed that he 'borrowed' off some metalhead at bandcamp & everyone
got totally fucking hammered & lived happily ever after.....
..........if you managed to wade through all the sarcasm, then the point is , we can all relax now that the
'good news' news will solve everything & make reality obsolete.........

I don't know if they still have it but a few years ago an evening news broadcast show in our country had a similar segment --all feel-good optimistic news delivered in approximately 5 minutes by a smiley news anchor. I guess it works on some people, but in my severest depression and anxiety it just seems like some alien, alternate universe I'm not a part of, and can't even aspire to.

Why is this supposed to be a bad thing? News companies are known for only reporting the most shocking and saddening items because those bring in more readers / viewers and more money. And also many of them lie regularly. Of course people want to see some positive things when they get bombared with negative propaganda all day

I'm such a pessimist... A big part of me wonders how they find enough good news to fill up a website...

They still do it on local news channels here in the UK- end with a heart warming story- maybe in the hopes it will stop us all from being so utterly depressed after the rest of it. Of course- then it's the weather- so it's short lived...
