this isn't my planned method, but i often have thoughts of stabbing myself in the neck. would it be possible to sever my carotid artery and bleed out that way? or is it too hard for me to reach by myself?

It's possible, but not reliable or easy.
You would need to know exactly where the artery is located, as well as overcoming SI and pain.
I think avicii did this with a broken wine bottle, but I'm not sure of the exact circumstances.
