what are your thoughts on what happens after death? i have been thinking about this a lot lately and it scares me
i think there is nothing but then i start reading stuff online and there is all of this stuff on spirits and souls and how people who ctb remain earthly bound because of their regret and they see all of the harm they have caused and then they have to purify their soul to cross over to 'the other side' - whatever that means
how do these people know that there is an 'otherside' or that spirits even exist in the first place?
im just worried that this afterlife might be more painful than this nightmare that i am living in currently

I like to believe when we die, our soul stays in some place waiting for a next vessel to be reborn in. Sometimes we meet people that seem to have such a good understanding in life. Some call them old souls. Like this isn't the first time they have been on this Earth.
Or we just die and there's nothing. Like going to sleep, without dreaming or waking up. I like the first option better.

I think it's part if the process leading to ctb., coming to terms with this. It's very personal for everyone.
I think I know what happens and am willing to go ahead regardless. I think when you are ready, any fear or doubts of the afterlife will not stop you.

If a person can be declared to not be able to stand trial due to mental incompatacies, then they probably would not be forced to stand a (heavenly or hell-ly) trial, either (if you believe in that)

I've thought so much about this.. I had a religious background, Sunday school, church secondary school etc.. was brought up to pray before bed.. so was brought up with God as a fact! But now I think it's almost certain there's nothing. As has been said previously, there was nothing before we were born and there's nothing after. We have dealt with nothing before who's to say we can't again after death? As long as I'm cremated then scattered somewhere beautiful then I can cope with that reality.

It's a mystery for sure brother. I feel you when you say that we came from nothing and to nothing we return.
You know how sometimes we go to sleep and wake up without dreaming or at least recalling our dreams? I'd like to think that is what its like, but forever, there is simply nothing.
But honestly who knows, if some people want to believe they come back as shampoo then that's cool too.

Any kind of life after death is pure speculation and 100 percent the creation of human imagination. There is absolutely no evidence or logical reason to believe there is anything after death but nothingness.

It makes total sense that life from your perspective after death will be no different than before you were born I.E it's nothing.

That's the purpose of stories like that, to deter people from suicide. For you to post that it has been a worry of yours shows that the tactic is somewhat successful.

From my point of view though, it's just another silly story that hairless apes have conjured up out of thin air, same as Santa Claus. For all we are is a set of genes and experiences from environment, all wiped away in death. The self is an illusion. We are the universe itself, all of us, and after death what makes up our bodies gets recycled. If it makes up the body of another living thing eventually then we will never know, same as none of the prey animals eaten by predators know of their cells becoming a part of the predator's cells. They are just gone. Same as what will happen with us. And then there will be nothing to recycle after the heat death of the universe. So I do not believe in reincarnation. No souls. No heaven. No hell. Just nothingness, the same as it was before our births.

To be honest I wish it was something magical, like discovering it was all a dream or a training for an incredible happy life with no pain, no sadness, no mental/health problems, but it's probably nothing, pure void, blank, but at least I'll be at peace with it.

Me too, i like the first option better.
I think I'd like to be reborn, maybe this time around into a nice family full of love, in a better country with more possibilities and opportunities.

It funny how people claim they saw ghost, spirits, soul, yada, spirits of loved ones came visit them in dreams, give them signs, yada.
But then look at all those who were MURDER, and serial murders still out there roaming around freely. Yet NONE of those victims came back in spirit/soul whatever visit their spouse/parents in dreams to tell their loved who the murder was, and where to find their body.

Those were murders didn't want to die, they have spouses and children they never want to leave behind. Yet they were cruely murder, obviously if there is such things as spirit came back in dream yada, they will tell who the murder was to give their family closure, and ofcourse they want their body to be burry instead of rotten out there somewhere.
NONE. I repeat NONE ever come back.

Look at the Malaysia airplane that crash in the middle of the ocean and went to disappeared. Till today nobody can find where that airplane was. 300+ people on board all die. Why didn't their spirit came back to tell where the airplane was.

Yet we get all kind of bullshit stories that like medium call back the death. The death visit their loved ones in dream yada.

If you can visit your loved ones in dream and talk. Then go tell them who murder you.

They really don't. The different conceptions of the afterlife vary wildly. Do you think the Vikings and the Buddhists came to the same conclusion?

Yes they both believe in afterlife! The life after this life in one way or the other. So reincarnation is also the life after this life so its the afterlife. Get it?

I never denied the existence of an afterlife. I do however deny the existence of spirits and the otherworld.
