I am thinking about catching the bus on Thanksgiving. The primary reason is that my family and father and mother will all be together. It would provide support to them By being together.Do you think this is a good idea?

You'll ruin Thanksgiving and subsequent Thanksgivings for your family. I'd wait for a non-holiday if you have people that care about you. They'll come together after you ctb.

Personally I don't think it matters but that's just my opinion. I plan to cbt in mid-December which is both my birthday and near Christmas. Whether I do it then or another time it'll be a memorable date for my loved ones regardless.

but you should do what you think is best. I wish you luck and peace whatever you decide.

My date right now is for around early to mid December myself. Everyday is a Holiday somewhere and it's going to be traumatic anyways for anyone left who cares. I've been waiting and doing things for people my whole life. This will be my one true selfish act and I'm going to do it whenever I'm ready regardless.

Since you asked, I think it's a horrible idea. What that's going to do is ruin the holiday for your family forever. Even when they're not actively grieving, Thanksgiving will no longer be a joyful family time. It'll just turn into a painful reminder.

Do you really want your children to dread every Thanksgiving day for the rest of their lives?

What a delicate situation. I think you're the only one whose opinion on the matter ... matters. This is your life. You don't owe anyone an explanation AND you're not responsible for other people's emotional responses. I get you love them and want them to be as OK as possible. If you Google comments from loved ones after the passing of their relatives... you see that according to many of those who survive the death, there was never "a better time." I lost my mother on a typical day in July. Not a holiday. I still think about her death every single day. It would never have been a better time for her to die.

I hope you'll do what you find to be best for you. Really, none of our opinions matter. Most of all, I hope you find some (a lot) of peace with whatever decision you make. If you want someone else to talk to, I'm happy to listen.
