Most people probably prefer at night because many are asleep then and the incident won't be discovered until the morning at the earliest.
In addition, it's usually quieter then and more relaxing.
But if you live alone and no one ever contacts you, I don't think it really matters.
So it really depends on the location and whether you live alone or with others.
